What do "normal absences" look like? 🗓️✨
Summer is a great time to recharge, but it's also a perfect time to reset our school-year habits! We know life happens—illness, family emergencies, and doctor appointments are a normal part of the year. Usually, missing fewer than 7 days in an entire school year keeps students right on track.
When absences start creeping past 10% of the school year (about 2 days a month), it's called "chronic absence." At that point, it becomes really tough for students to maintain momentum, even with our supportive pace.
We don't track attendance to be rigid; we track it because our community isn't the same when your student isn't here. Every day matters! 🧡

Let's talk about the phrase "Alternative High School." 📌
Sometimes people hear that label and make assumptions, but here is what it actually means at Canyon Springs: It means alternative pathways, not alternative students!
🙅♀️ Myth: It's just a school for "bad kids."
🔗 Reality: Our Tigers are ambitious, creative, and resilient students who simply thrive with smaller class sizes, individualized attention, and a supportive community.
🙅♀️ Myth: The diploma is different.
🔗 Reality: Our graduates earn the exact same state-recognized high school diploma as any other high school.
We look at our students’ unique strengths and challenges to help them build the future they want. No labels, just opportunity. 🙌

What exactly is Canyon Springs High School? 🧡💜
We are a proud, public high school right here in the Caldwell School District designed for students who thrive in a different kind of learning environment.
Here, we believe that education isn’t "one size fits all." We focus on small class sizes, strong mentor-student relationships, and a personalized approach to learning. Whether a student is looking for a closer community, a fresh start, or a flexible pace to get across the finish line, Canyon Springs is a place where they are capable, supported, and seen.
