Summer Spotlight: Bryndall Christensen ✨

Meet Bryndall, a rising sophomore at The College of Idaho majoring in Biomedical Sciences with a Physician Assistant specialization. Bryndall hopes to one day serve as a medical missionary, and this summer she’s already taking steps toward that calling.

For eight weeks, Bryndall is serving as an intern at Shepherd Community Center in Indiana, a faith-based organization that provides summer programming for children and families. After first learning about the opportunity through a Bible study at The College of Idaho, she felt called to serve.

Working in the kindergarten classroom during the summer school program, Bryndall has found joy in building relationships with the children and making a difference in their lives every day.

“I’m loving every second of it!”

We’re proud to see Bryndall living out her faith, serving others, and gaining meaningful experiences that will help shape her future. 💜

🎉 Congratulations to Mary King, MSPAS, MPH, PA-C, CAQ-Psychiatry, a Doctor of Medical Science candidate in The College of Idaho’s PA Fellowship track, on publishing her first peer-reviewed research article!

Mary co-authored a narrative review examining the relationship between ADHD and sport-related concussion (SRC) in athletes, exploring injury risk, symptom presentation, assessment, and recovery while highlighting the importance of individualized, multidisciplinary care.

Drawing from her clinical experience and background as a former collegiate athlete, Mary shared:

“Preparing the manuscript strengthened my ability to critically evaluate scientific literature, identify evidence gaps, and effectively communicate research findings to diverse audiences. The experience aligned directly with concepts I was learning in my doctoral coursework at The College of Idaho.”

We’re proud to celebrate Mary’s first published manuscript and her commitment to advancing evidence-based healthcare. 👏💜

What can satellite tags reveal about one of the Gulf of California’s most iconic game fish? 🌊

Dr. Chris Walser recently traveled to Baja, Mexico with former student and marine ecologist Dr. Camrin Braun, recent graduate Emma Redman, current student Jack Dennis, and collaborators to study the movement patterns of roosterfish—a species surprisingly little is known about.

The team successfully tagged four roosterfish using pop-up satellite tag technology to track their vertical and horizontal movements, as well as their depth and temperature preferences. If all goes as planned, the tags will detach in one year, float to the surface, and transmit valuable data via satellite for analysis, helping researchers better understand this remarkable species.

This collaborative project, more than two years in the making, was funded by the M. J. Murdock Charitable Trust and highlights the meaningful research experiences and faculty-student collaborations that make The College of Idaho unique. 👏

From The College of Idaho to the runway at Brooklyn Fashion Week ✨

Congratulations to alumna Emidia “Mimi” Victoria Weinstock on an incredible achievement! After earning her master’s degree in the Business of Fashion from Rutgers University this spring, Mimi was selected as the only designer from her graduate program to showcase a collection at Brooklyn Fashion Week. 👏

Her debut collection, Troubadour’s, drew inspiration from Alice in Wonderland, blending whimsical white florals with structured black silhouettes. Built through an upcycling process using thrifted and repurposed garments, the collection reflects Mimi’s passion for sustainable design and creative storytelling.

Mimi’s work has also earned her first published feature as a fashion designer, marking another exciting milestone in her growing career. We’re proud to celebrate her success and look forward to seeing where her talent and creativity take her next. 💜
