Being inspired✨

From Seth Casden ‘91:
In 2008, my high school Latin teacher passed away, Dr. William Turner Levy.
For many people, that may not seem like a huge deal.
But he had been my friend and close confidant for 20+ years, long after I graduated from Viewpoint School.
When I wasn’t given the support I needed as a teenager, he took me under his wing.
Later in life, when I was starting Hologenix, LLC, he mentored me – teaching me how to look at life and entrepreneurship in creative ways.
His unconditional love and support gave me the confidence I needed to push this company forward.
Without him, Hologenix would not be where it is today.
That’s why when he was in his time of need –
Sick in a hospital bed near the end of his life –
I did my best to be there for him.
I visited regularly to chat about life.
When he could no longer talk, I went to RadioShack and bought a portable CD player – remember those?
We’d listen to one of his favorite classics, Herman Melville’s “Moby-Dick” on CD.
Though he is no longer with us, his legacy continues to drive my values and inspire my day-to-day actions.
As an entrepreneur, I’ve learned that inspiration can come in many forms.
But at the end of the day, behind every passionate entrepreneur –
There’s an important mentor, friend, coach, parent, sibling, or teacher who gave them the unconditional support they needed to succeed.

And this is the most powerful source of inspiration.

Chaos & Creativity 💥🎨

That is what alumna Gena Rabinowitz ‘00 artfully and beautifully spoke at in Prague. In her 20 years and counting as an art teacher, her lessons have been taught in the jungles of Bali to the walls of Prague. She currently lives in Prague with her husband and alum, Brad Kane ‘95, with their daughter, Ayla.

Her new TedTalk is an enriching 12-min listen and masterclass that a classroom doesn’t need walls,… or yellow paint. 😉 You don’t need to be an educator to learn from Gena, but you just might be inspired to open your mind a bit more!

Thank you, Gena! Amazing to learn from you! Link in bio.
