Congratulations to JTEKT Cairo on being named the 2026 Work-Based Learning Business Partner of the Year!
JTEKT was nominated by Work-Based Learning Coordinator Whitney Brannen and first earned recognition as the Southwest Region Work-Based Learning Business Partner of the Year. Following that achievement, JTEKT was selected as the statewide winner at this year's Georgia Association for Career and Technical Education Conference (GACTE)

This prestigious honor recognizes JTEKT's outstanding commitment to supporting students through work-based learning opportunities, career development, and workforce readiness. Their partnership continues to make a lasting impact on students, helping prepare the next generation for success in the workplace.

The Cairo Fire Department Fire Apprenticeship Program, in partnership with our Work-Based Learning program, gives students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, develop leadership skills, and explore a career in fire service.

Students must be upcoming juniors or seniors to be eligible for this exciting opportunity. If you’re ready to serve your community, build valuable skills, and be part of something bigger than yourself, this program is for you!

Today, Mrs. Brannen, WBL Coordinator, along with several of Mrs. Williams’ healthcare students, volunteered at Magnolia Place Senior Living for a day full of fun, connection, and service. Students led a variety of activities with residents, including bowling, axe throwing, bucket ball, bingo, cup games, and bocce ball. One of the highlights of the day had everyone laughing, residents sported shower caps topped with shaving cream while their teammate tossed cheese balls at them! In addition to the activities, students toured the memory care unit and heard from Mrs. Brande Strickland about future employment opportunities in the healthcare field.

The residents truly enjoyed the students’ visit and even requested that they return soon. A heartfelt thank you to Magnolia Place for welcoming us and allowing our students to serve and engage with the community. This event is part of a statewide initiative inspired by Georgia’s Teacher of the Year to encourage and promote community service among students.

This hands-on experience will help students build confidence, develop leadership skills, explore careers, and connect with their community.
