Harrison Central Junior/Senior High students recently heard from Leah Amico, a three-time Olympic gold medalist with the U.S. softball team.

Amico shared her story as an athlete and encouraged students to recognize the impact of their choices. Her visit gave students a chance to hear about perseverance, purpose and the value of looking beyond achievements to what matters most.

The Harrison Central Gifted Program is hitting the road for STEM!

Students are raising funds for an upcoming STEM trip to North Carolina, and you can support their adventure while getting your car cleaned.

Stop by the Stephenson Center TOMORROW, from 2–5 p.m. for a car wash. The suggested donation is $20, but any amount is appreciated.

Come out, get your car sparkling and help provide our Gifted Program students with a hands-on STEM learning experience beyond the classroom!

Tenth-grade students put their grammar skills to work with a “Lightning Grammar Review.”

Using the classroom whiteboard wall, students created sentences with missing or incorrect punctuation. Other groups then worked to identify and correct the errors, essentially creating grammar quizzes for one another!

The activity, known as the Error Analysis Strategy, gives students a hands-on way to review grammar and punctuation while preparing for upcoming essay writing.
And of course, we have to give a shoutout to our Grammar Champs for coming out on top! 🏆

Our eighth graders took history beyond the classroom during a field trip to Historic Zoar Village!

Students attended the award-winning Zoar and the Presidents School Day, where they met portrayals of U.S. presidents and other historical figures from Zoar’s years as a communal settlement. They explored the village, listened to presidential speeches and participated in games, activities and interactive demonstrations.

Students also learned how Civil War soldiers loaded and fired their weapons and practiced military drills from the era. At the end of the day, they voted for their favorite president and first lady. Benjamin and Caroline Harrison were popular choices thanks to the “Harrison” connection, but George and Martha Washington took the top spots!
