Exciting news!

The Harrison Hills City School District has named Brandon Mitchell as its new assistant principal, where he will oversee the district’s special education department while supporting students, staff and families.

A Harrison Central graduate and lifelong member of the Harrison County community, Mitchell has served the district for the past five years. He began his career as a first-grade intervention specialist before transitioning to an eighth-grade intervention specialist, a position he has held for the past three years. In addition to his classroom responsibilities, Mitchell has served as assistant athletic director for the past three years and has coached both baseball and basketball.

Mitchell earned a bachelor’s degree in history and professional education from Walsh University and a master’s degree in educational administration.
Board of Education President D.J. Watson said the district is proud to promote one of its own into a leadership role.

“Brandon has been a tremendous asset to our district and has earned a reputation as an outstanding intervention specialist who always puts students first,” Watson said. “As a Harrison Central alumnus, he understands our community and our mission. His natural leadership, strong work ethic and commitment to serving others will make him an exceptional assistant principal, and we are excited to see the positive impact he will continue to have on our district.”

In his new role, Mitchell will oversee the district’s special education department while working alongside teachers, administrators and families to support student success.
“I hope to continue making a positive impact on students while providing support to our teachers and strengthening relationships throughout our community,” Mitchell said. “I am beyond thrilled and grateful to work in a community and school district that have been so amazing to me. It is an honor to continue serving Harrison Hills in this new capacity.”

Mitchell will assume his new duties for the 2026-27 school year.
