Trigg County bus drivers are hard at work improving their skills and preparing for the new school year.

Yesterday, our trainers presented about Law and Regulations, Critical Situations, and Bus Maintenance. We also heard from Randy Durbin, owner of EnSite Drug Testing. He explained to drivers why we have the need for testing and gave examples that I think caught the attention of everyone.

This morning, our mechanics took all drivers through the differences between our snub nose, new Thomas, EV, and older International buses. Our other trainers helped practice various evacuations and taught safety information for critical situations.

To finish, all drivers got some seat time each type of bus even if they don’t drive them on a regular basis. We want all drivers to be comfortable on every bus. They completed coursework,
parallel parking, and backing up to improve their skills.

Our driver trainers have worked all summer to prepare for these trainings, while also attending conferences themselves to learn new laws and regulations. We take pride in transporting students safely and look forward to the school year!

Congratulations to another new driver for Trigg Co. Transportation. James Quincey has passed his CDL test and joined the ranks. Quincey has previously driven school buses and worked diligently to redo all his training to once again obtain his CDL. His Driver Trainer, Dyanna Lanz, shares that experience with him, for she too had to obtain her CDL a 2nd time several years ago. So let this post not only serve as a celebration of Quincey's achievement but also a public service announcement. Once you go through all the hard work to obtain your CDL...don't let them lapse. Training can be alot of fun...retraining ..still fun but tedious HAHA

Welcome Rick Black to the Transportation family. He will be a great asset to the team. He contributes his training and passing of his CDL test to one of our great driver trainers Dawn Butler, she has been a trainer for over 10 years and has over 50 drivers that she has trained in that time.
Congratulations!!!

We would like to thank everyone for their patience this past week as we ran alternate routes because of lingering ice. The workers for our county and state road departments have worked continuously to clear everything, especially our rural areas.

We are happy to announce we will be back on regular routes starting tomorrow. However, several places where our buses turn around still have piles of snow. If you are affected by these places, a driver will contact you.
