Trigg County Health Department will be open during/after open house this Thursday to get all kids caught up on immunizations and back-to-school ready!

Hello parents, we are working to get ready for all your children to return to school. Just a quick note, any kids who will require medications at school will need a new order form completed by their medical provider. Nurses will be available in each school during open house if you want to go ahead and bring medications and forms with you so we can be better prepared the first day of school. We cannot give any prescription medications without a new form, not receiving this by the first day of school will delay your student receiving their medication during school. Please reach out if you need a blank new form or the fax number to each school. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation, we look forward to seeing all the students return!

This is Christy Oliphant, and I will be turning this page over to Magen Thomas, the new district heath coordinator. Magen, Ashley Stewart, Ray Carroll, and Ashley Kingston will take great care of your students! I have accepted a position locally as a family nurse practitioner. It’s been an honor taking care of your babies, and I have enjoyed getting to know so many of our families in the district over the past 7 years. I will miss the students and staff but hope to continue those relationships! Thank you for entrusting me with your children over the years.

We are experiencing increasing rates of COVID in our community. If your child is having symptoms, please have them tested. If someone in your home has COVID, students do not have to quarantine if they are only a contact but should stay home if they are having symptoms and get tested. If you have any questions, please reach out to your school nurse.

If your student will need to take prescription medication at school daily or on a as needed basis, the open house is a wonderful time for parents to bring meds to school so your student will have it available for the first day of classes. Please remember, we MUST have a new doctor’s order each year to be able to administer prescription meds at school. You can find the forms on the school’s website. Please bring the form and medication with you to open house or have your provider fax the form to school.

Friendly reminder that all students starting preschool, kindergarten, and 6th grade will need a school physical. If your child plays school-sponsored sports, they need yearly sports physicals, as well.

Students starting preschool or kindergarten will need an eye exam with an optometrist or opthamologist.

All students entering kindergarten must have a dental screening or exam with their dentist or with the health department.

After the ages of 4, 11, and 16 years old, students need required vaccines for school. If they have not had vaccines after these ages, they are behind and will need to be updated as soon as possible. Please schedule appointments now to prevent delays in August when school begins. Thank you!
