Hands-on science is always a hit in our Classical Conversations community!🎉

During Week 23, our students identified real rock samples and then created the 3 types of rocks using Starbursts! They “weathered” and “compacted” for sedimentary rocks, applied heat and pressure for metamorphic, and melted then cooled for igneous.

Learning is always sweeter with candy—and this lesson truly rocked!🪨

Week 2 of Mineral Identification is complete!

Our Classical Conversations students continued their hands-on science studies with flashlights, magnifiers, and keen observation skills. They worked through their mineral identification sheets like pros—analyzing color, luster, streak, and more.

Next week, we dig into Rock Identification and learn to tell igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks apart. Bring on the geology fun!

Hands-On Geology Fun! 💎🔬

Our Classical Conversations students became junior geologists today, exploring mineral identification with streak plates, magnifying glasses, and hands-on testing! They examined hardness, color, and special properties like magnetism—bringing science to life in a fun and interactive way.

Learning about God’s creation through science is always an adventure! 🌿✨

On Monday, Our Classical Conversations students had a blast diving deep—literally!—into the layers of the geosphere. From the crust to the core, they crafted hands-on models to visualize Earth’s structure and its atmospheric layers. Seeing their creativity and understanding come to life in this project was truly inspiring. What a fun way to learn about God’s amazing creation!

It may not actually be spring yet, but it sure felt like it today! ☀️

Our CC Essentials students took advantage of the sunshine and fresh air for a fun outdoor math review with giant playing cards.

Learning happens everywhere. ♣️♦️♠️♥️

Why are these students lounging around? Is it nap time?😴

Nope—just mastering the fine art of active listening!

As we kick off the Composers & Orchestra quarter, they’re learning to tune in—not just to music, but to God’s still, small voice. Sometimes the best way to hear is to be still… and maybe get extra comfortable while doing it!

Our Classical Conversations Community in Action!

Yesterday, our students explored art and science in a hands-on way!

🎨 Painting Like Michelangelo
To experience the challenges of painting a ceiling like Michelangelo did for the Sistine Chapel, students laid under tables and created their masterpieces from below. It gave them a whole new appreciation for his talent and patience!

🌉 Building Bridges with Books
Students also experimented with stacking books to understand how natural rock bridges form and remain stable over time. This hands-on activity helped them grasp structural balance and the forces at work in nature.

Learning through experience makes education so much more engaging! We love seeing our students explore and grow in creative ways.

🎨 Today, our students explored printmaking, inspired by Albrecht Dürer! They traced their designs onto foam sheets, then we coated them with printing ink and pressed them onto paper to reveal their prints. It was fun to see their creativity come to life! This hands-on project was a fantastic way to blend history and creativity!

Today in Classical Conversations, we learned about Fra Angelico and his beautiful painting, The Annunciatory Angel. The kids painted their own angels and added golden halos, inspired by the artist’s use of gold to show holiness. It was such a fun and creative way to bring art, faith, and history together!

Our Classical Conversations Community is back in session for 2nd Semester! 🎨

This quarter, we’re diving into Fine Arts and exploring Great Artists. Today, we learned about Giotto, a pioneer in realistic art, and tried our hand at making egg paint just like artists in his time.

It’s always fun to see the kids engage with hands-on projects and learn something new together. A great start to the new quarter!🎉

What a wonderful way to wrap up our last Classical Conversations community day of the semester! The students worked on a Kingdoms of Living Things poster project, showcasing some of what we learned about plants and animals throughout the first semester.🐯🌱

We also reviewed and celebrated our music theory studies with a fun and interactive bingo game.🎶

To top it off, we enjoyed a pizza party to celebrate everyone’s hard work. We’re already excited about what’s in store for next semester!🍕

Last week at CC, we explored the fascinating anatomy of crayfish through dissection, marveling at how these creatures are so perfectly designed.

This week, we shifted our focus to owl pellets, uncovering tiny bones and learning about the diets and habits of these amazing birds of prey. It’s incredible to see how God’s creativity and order shine through His creation!
