We might have inspired someone to become a pilot today! ✈️
Today, I had the distinct honor of introducing the Huntington Middle School STEM career-driven students — a program our nonprofit, H3O, has proudly invested in — to retired United States Air Force Major Joseph Washington, who brings more than 25 years of aviation experience and thousands of hours of flight time to the classroom.
Mr. Washington, now a flight instructor here in Central Georgia, joined the students to provide insight from a pilot’s perspective and to build on their recent field trip to the Museum of Aviation’s flight simulator. The students truly enjoyed their simulator experience, and we thought it would be a great opportunity to bring in a subject matter expert who could share both the military and civilian sides of aviation.
During his visit, Mr. Washington shared stories from his flying career, discussed his journey to becoming a military pilot, explained his work as a flight instructor, and outlined the requirements, expectations, and opportunities available in aviation.
Most importantly, he gave the students valuable information and encouragement if they choose to pursue an aviation career someday.
Opportunities like this matter because exposure creates possibilities — and today, dreams may have taken flight. 🚀 🚀
