Guernsey County Board of DD Our mission is to ensure quality services that enhance the lives of individuals through effective use of available resources.

The GCBDD believes in providing programs and services for each eligible individual with a developmental disability that will allow the individual to use his/her intellectual and physical abilities to their fullest. Self-sufficiency and independence are the goals for each individual. The service plan for each individual shall be based on a concept of self-determination and choice. The GCBDD believe

s that all people should be treated with dignity and respect. It is committed to educating the community to expand and encourage acceptance of individuals with developmental disabilities.

​The GCBDD encourages individuals to live as positive contributors to the community, by promoting program designed to enable every individual to achieve the maximum development of his or her potential in the least restrictive, most appropriate environment.

Registration deadline extended to August 31st!

Show Ring Stars is a free opportunity for children (5 and over) and adults with disabilities, or who receive mental health services, to show rabbits, lambs, goats, feeder calves, or miniature donkeys at the Guernsey County Fair. Show date will be Thursday, September 17th.

Each participant will be paired with a 4-H/FFA member who will teach them all about their animal and provide assistance during the show.

Registration information can be found on the GCBDD website, along with mentorship, and sponsor forms. https://www.guernseycountydd.org/

Show Ring Stars is a partnership between the Guernsey County Board of DD, Cedar Ridge Behavioral Health Solutions, the Guernsey County Farm Bureau, and the Guernsey County Fair Board.

Join our Adult Self Determination Group for a fun game night on Thursday, September 10th at 4:30pm at Cambridge Middle School.

The GCBDD partnered with the Cambridge Area YMCA Family Center for Adaptive Swim Lessons, which were held the last week of July.

Families participated in the water with the students, along with the class instructors from the YMCA. You could see the progression from the first session to the last. The kids became more comfortable in the water, and mastered skills like climbing out of the pool on their own.

Acquiring water safety skills and building confidence in the water are essential for children of all abilities. And of course, there was lots of fun, splashing, and songs, along the way.☀
