We hope you learned as much from us as we did from you, and this is a huge first step in your journey to becoming a Massachusetts Maritime Cadet.

Cold water survival! Today, attendees had the opportunity to use life vests, and immersion suits to learn how to survive in the water, in case of emergency. This was a great opportunity, thanks to our Marine Transportation professors, and everyone loved learning the techniques involved with cold water survival.

FULL CIRCLE SPOTLIGHT

Our next two spotlights are incoming sophomores Summer Magriby and Scarlett Gurecki. They met during their time at SSLP back in 2024, and are still great friends here today. Summer says “Right from the start I saw the leadership and dedication the cadre had and I knew that I wanted the same traits, and to become a leader.” Scarlett goes on to say that SSLP “gave me lots of insight on all the majors offered here. I already had an idea about joining marine transportation, but this camp solidified my decision overall. It taught me what it takes to be a leader as well as how to excel in my major.”

Day 3 complete! Continued with hard work in the classroom, and got some hands on learning within our different majors. Attendees were also able to tour our training ship, and learn from a couple Marine Transportation professors. We had a special barbecue dinner tonight, with many lawn games for everyone to enjoy!! Cannot wait to see what we have in store for tomorrow 💪😁🚢

Day 2! After getting a great start to our morning with PT, attendees moved into classes, which provided information on our various majors. They were able to get a feel for what they may hope to study in the coming future, and it was great to see how engaging everyone was. We also spent a lot of work with attendee’s 3-D printed ships, and can’t wait to see how they turn out. The day ended with karaoke, and we are so excited for more fun things like this to come.
