New Graduate Course Offering: Earth Systems Geochemistry ⚒️
How did Earth evolve into the dynamic planet we know today?
Earth Systems Geochemistry explores the evolution of Earth as an interconnected geochemical system, tracing the co-evolution of the crust, oceans, atmosphere, and biosphere through geologic time. Understanding these ancient systems provides the foundation for interpreting modern environmental processes, biogeochemical cycles, climate change, and the formation of economically important mineral deposits.
Topics include:
🔬 Biogeochemical cycles
🌊 Ocean-atmosphere interactions
🌱 Evolution of the biosphere
🌍 Climate change through geologic time
⛏️ Formation of economically important mineral deposits
By studying Earth's past, students develop the tools needed to interpret present-day environmental challenges and natural resource systems.
