New Graduate Course Offering: Earth Systems Geochemistry ⚒️

How did Earth evolve into the dynamic planet we know today?

Earth Systems Geochemistry explores the evolution of Earth as an interconnected geochemical system, tracing the co-evolution of the crust, oceans, atmosphere, and biosphere through geologic time. Understanding these ancient systems provides the foundation for interpreting modern environmental processes, biogeochemical cycles, climate change, and the formation of economically important mineral deposits.

Topics include:

🔬 Biogeochemical cycles

🌊 Ocean-atmosphere interactions

🌱 Evolution of the biosphere

🌍 Climate change through geologic time

⛏️ Formation of economically important mineral deposits

By studying Earth's past, students develop the tools needed to interpret present-day environmental challenges and natural resource systems.

"Growing up in Butte, it was always a favorite to walk to the Montana Tech campus with my mom and take in the beauty and the view of the city. I have always been so proud to travel and meet people who know Montana Tech and speak positively of my hometown college's heritage and reputation. I am so grateful to return home and now serve as Director of Nursing of the Sherry Lesar School of Nursing and lead this amazing program. I am honored to expand upon Tech's legacy programs and help set a course for the next 125 years!" - Janet Richards Coe, Director of Nursing
