DayOne 2026 is coming next week!

From noon Wednesday, September 9, through noon Friday, September 11, Orediggers everywhere will come together to support the Montana Tech students, departments, programs, clubs, and initiatives they care about most.

This year is especially meaningful as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of DayOne and cap off Montana Tech’s 125th anniversary celebration.

Together, we can honor our remarkable history while creating opportunities for the Orediggers who will shape our future.

Another Montana sweater has been claimed. 🔥

Montana Tech Women’s Hockey is excited to welcome #7 Emery Kountz to the inaugural crew! 💚🧡💚

📍 Hometown: Miles City, Montana
🥅 Position: Wing
🏒 Previous Team: Miles City Generals
🎓 Major: Biology — Organismal & Ecological Studies

And when Emery isn’t on the ice or studying biology?

🔥 She’s a wildland firefighter.

Yeah… we think she can handle a little pressure. 😏

“I chose Montana Tech because I wanted to go somewhere where I wouldn’t know a lot of people. I also liked how good the school is about finding you jobs in your field of interest!”

Emery is another Montana-grown hockey player getting the opportunity to continue playing the game she loves while pursuing her education right here in her home state.

🏒 COMMITTED: NATALKA ROLFSON #17 ⛏️

Another sweater has found its Oredigger. 🔥

Montana Tech Women’s Hockey is excited to welcome Natalka Rolfson to the inaugural crew! 💚🧡

📍 Hometown: Billings, Montana
🥅 Position: Defense
🏒 Previous Team: Pilot Mound Buffalos (five years ago 🥲 — time to lace ’em back up!)
🎓 Major: M.S. Electrical Engineering

Natalka graduated from Montana Tech with her degree in Electrical Engineering this past year and is sticking around the Mining City to earn her master’s and now, to put the sweater back on. 🏒

⭐ FUN FACT: Natalka has been to NASA! 🚀

Yeah… we’re definitely going to need to hear more about that one.

💚🧡 💚WHY MONTANA TECH?

“Montana Tech is a small school that provides big opportunities. The more involved you are, the more rewarding the experience becomes.”

And Natalka is certainly taking her own advice.

After five years away from competitive hockey, she’s lacing them back up and joining us on defense as we build the first Montana Tech Women’s Hockey team.

An engineer. A graduate student. A hockey player. And another Montana woman getting the opportunity to represent Montana Tech on the ice.

Montana Tech Women’s Hockey is excited to announce #13 Karsyn Lambrecht as our next committed player! 💚🧡💚

📍 Hometown: Butte, Montana
🏒 Position: Right Wing
🥅 Last Teams: Havre Ice Hawks & Copper City Kings
🎓 Major: Construction Technology Management
💃 Fun Fact: Before hockey, Karsyn spent 11 years as a competitive dancer!

And this time, one of Butte’s own is staying home.

🛡️ Position: Defense
🏒 Last Team: Copper City Kings
🎓 Major: Associate of Science
🎣 Fun Fact: When she’s not at the rink, there’s a good chance you’ll find Kaitrin fishing!

For Kaitrin, choosing Montana Tech means getting the opportunity to represent a school that has been part of her hometown and part of her life for as long as she can remember.

🚨 COMMITTED: JAYDYN MASON #8 🚨

From the Alaskan interior to the Mining City… the journey comes full circle. ⛏️🏒

We’re kicking off our Montana Tech Women’s Hockey player announcements with #8 — Jaydyn Mason! 💚🧡

📍 Hometown: Cantwell, Alaska → Wasilla, Alaska → Butte, Montana
Grew up in Alaska and finished her high school journey in Butte.

🏒 Position: Center / Left Wing

🥅 Last Teams: Butte Jr. Irish High School Team & Alaska North Stars 19U Girls AA

🎓 Major: Nursing

⭐ FUN FACT:
Jaydyn started her hockey career on defense and played there for four years before moving up front. She even volunteered to play goalie for a high school girls game once.

Her review of the experience? Terrifying. 😂

Despite admitting there may have been a few tears when a puck went in, she says she’d put the pads back on again if her team needed her. That’s a teammate. 💪🥅

💚🧡 WHY MONTANA TECH?

“My parents both grew up in Butte and went to Tech, along with many members of my family. When we moved to Butte, I knew Tech was the school for me too. Tech’s nursing program is the best!”
