It's that time of the year again! Band camp begins this Monday, July 13th!
Band camp will last two weeks, week 1 from 7/13-17, and week 2 from 7/20-24. Rehearsal every day will last from 9:00am-4:00pm. All students planning on participating in marching band this year must be present for EVERY DAY of band camp.
During the second week of camp there will be "mandatory fun" events that take place after rehearsal, usually until around 5:00. These are not actually mandatory, but recommended, as it is a great way for everyone to blow off some steam after a long day of practice.
There will be a break for lunch every day from 12:00-1:00. Students will be allowed to leave campus for lunch if they would like, as long as they return on time to afternoon rehearsal.
*Due to county wide pre-planning beginning on July 23rd, the last two days of band camp may have a modified schedule. I will send out any schedule updates through Remind.*
We will be outside at some point every day during band camp. The weather in Butler is very hot and humid during this time of year, so please dress accordingly. Wear a comfortable shirt, athletic shorts, and tennis shoes (no crocs or flip-flops) for all rehearsals. This rule is to keep everyone safe and to make sure no one suffers from heat exhaustion in the hot Georgia summer. Hats and sunglasses are also heavily encouraged, and remember to use plenty of sunscreen every day.
Hydration is very important. Most of the time, you do not realize how dehydrated you are until it is too late. Students will need a water bottle that can hold up to at least a half gallon of water. Any student that does not show up to band camp with proper hydration will not be allowed outside out of regard to their safety.
If you are not in the Remind group yet, please join ASAP. This is the easiest way for me to communicate to everyone, and the fastest way to get information about events going on.
Remind Class Code:
We will have a band booster meeting this Monday, 7/13, at 5:00pm in the band room. Parents should make plans to attend this meeting, as there will be important information about the entire marching band season, including the full schedule, cost of dues, and an overview of the marching band handbook. Students will be allowed to stay at school after rehearsal until the meeting starts.
I have a lot of faith in this band program for this year, but we can only live up to our potential if everyone arrives prepared for success. Spend some time outdoors over the next few days, and drink a cup of water every day to make sure you are hydrated and ready for band camp. Let's have a great 2026 season, and I will see everyone on July 13th at 9:00 sharp!
