Celebrating a Summer of Success for the Eastside Shotgun Club! šŸŽÆ

Our Eastside athletes had an incredible summer competing on some of the biggest stages in youth shooting sports!

At the Indiana AIM State Championship in early July:

šŸ„‡ Gage Donaldson was the Doubles Event Champion!
🄈 Keaton Brown, Gage Donaldson, Aiden Jehl, and Memphis Garman placed 2nd in their class.
šŸ„‰ Pearl Slentz, Rilan Myers, and Evelyn Garman placed 3rd in their class.
šŸ… Keaton Brown placed 5th in the 200 Singles event.

Later in July, the team traveled to Sparta, Illinois, for the AIM Grand National Championship, where more than 1,600 youth athletes from across the country competed! DeKalb County Shooting Sports had 19 athletes participate, including 10 Eastside students.

A special congratulations to Evelyn Garman, who placed 2nd individually in Sub Junior Class D!

We are so proud of all of our Eastside team members who represented their school and community:
Bo Hurraw, Haidence Keen, Owyn Brown, Rilan Myers, Pearl Slentz, Evelyn Garman, Aiden Jehl, Keaton Brown, Gage Donaldson, and Memphis Garman.

šŸ“š There is so much more to reading a book to children than what meets the eye!

Eastside Jr./Sr. High School’s Ed Professions students recently learned the skills that bring a story to life—reading with expression, using hand gestures, showing the pictures, projecting their voices, engaging students through questions and read-alongs, building fluency, and clearly articulating their words.

Then, they put those skills into practice with each other! Next month, they’ll take what they’ve learned into elementary classrooms for their first read-aloud book assignments. šŸ“–

This is CTE (Career & Technical Education): Learn it. Practice it. Put it into action in the real world.

Butler Elementary’s first pawstive student nominations were announced. These students were recognized by the staff for going above and beyond and doing something kind.

We couldn’t be more proud of their hard work, positive choices, and kindness towards others.

Keep it up, students, and remember to BE THE ONE! 🐾

Butler Elementary science students kicked off the school year with a fun and challenging engineering adventure—trying to ā€œSave Samiā€ from shark-infested waters using only limited resources and tools!

Students worked together, put their problem-solving skills to the test, and used the Engineering Design Process to think creatively and outside the box. 🦈

We are excited to share that the Eastside FFA Chapter has been named a Three-Star Chapter and a National FFA Premier Chapter Finalist!

This recognition comes from the chapter’s work with the Little Sprouts AgVenture Winter Workshop, which they hosted in December of last year.

The award was based on the National Chapter Application completed by our chapter officers earlier this spring. This application highlights the many events and activities our FFA chapter participates in throughout the calendar year across 3 main categories and 15 subcategories.

Now, the journey continues! Two Eastside FFA members will travel to the National FFA Convention on Wednesday, October 21, where they will participate in an interview as they compete for the opportunity to be named the Premier Chapter in the Strengthening Agriculture category. šŸ†

We are incredibly proud of our FFA members and their dedication to serving our community, strengthening agriculture, and making a difference through leadership and hands-on experiences. Congratulations, Eastside FFA!
