🎸 Meet the teacher: Albert Chua!

Albert has been playing guitar since age eight and has been teaching since 2015. As a multi-instrumentalist, he teaches guitar, piano, bass, ukulele, and clarinet across styles including rock, classical, and contemporary music.

Albert believes every student learns differently, so he enjoys experimenting with different teaching approaches to create those rewarding “aha!” moments.

He’s also an active performer and guitarist for indie rock band Quality Living. And when he’s not teaching or performing? Keep an eye out for the glow-in-the-dark ducks he hides around the school! 🦆✨

Did you know?
Timbre is what makes two instruments sound different—even when they play the exact same note!

That’s why a piano and guitar can play the same melody and still sound completely different.

🎤 Meet the teacher: Janine Colletti!

Janine is a professional opera director, actor, singer, and music educator who teaches voice and piano. Her directing work has taken her to major opera companies across the country, and she also teaches opera performance at Manhattan School of Music and Montclair State University.

At Architekt, Janine especially loves working with young beginners, creating a fun and encouraging environment where students can build confidence while exploring different styles of music.

Her goal is simple: to help every student develop strong musical foundations while discovering a lifelong love of music. 🎶

🎼 Did you know?

The more musicians listen to music, the better they can become at recognizing patterns, rhythm, dynamics, and musical expression. Listening is actually an important part of learning an instrument! 🎧🎶

Try this at home: choose a favorite song and listen closely. Can you identify the instruments? The beat? Changes in volume? Repeating patterns?

You might hear your favorite song in a whole new way!

🎶 Music is about more than playing an instrument, it gives students an opportunity to practice skills like patience, focus, listening, creativity, problem-solving, and perseverance.

And there’s something pretty special about watching a student go from “I can't do this” to “I just played that!” 🎸✨

That’s what makes music education so rewarding.

Singing is an instrument, too! 🎶

Your voice involves breath control, pitch, rhythm, coordination, and musical expression—just like playing a physical instrument.

That means singers are musicians, too, and developing your voice takes practice just like developing any other instrument. ❤️

🎵 Why does the teacher-student match matter so much?

The right teacher can make all the difference in a student's musical journey.

Every student learns differently. Some thrive with structure and repetition, while others learn best through creative projects, favorite songs, and hands-on experiences. A great teacher recognizes those differences and adapts their approach to help each student succeed.

The right match can help students stay motivated, enjoy their lessons, and build confidence along the way.

👉 Read our blog to learn more about why the teacher-student relationship matters—and what to look for when choosing a music school.
