🎻 Composer Spotlight:
Giuseppe Tartini (1692–1770)

Although Giuseppe Tartini’s birthday falls earlier this month, April is a wonderful time to reflect on his legacy. An Italian violinist, composer, and teacher, he is best known for The Devil’s Trill Sonata.

Beyond his brilliance as a performer, Tartini was a deeply thoughtful pedagogue who explored the art of tone production. In his Letter to Signora Maddalena Lombardini, he wrote:
“You must accustom yourself to draw the bow across the strings very slowly, in order to obtain a full and even tone.”

This principle remains essential in violin study today. At Adina Violin Studio, we guide students in developing a rich, expressive sound through mindful bow control, just as Tartini encouraged.

Louis Spohr (1784-1859! 🎻

Born April 5, 1784, Spohr was a brilliant German violinist, composer, and conductor. He wrote violin duets, concertos, and chamber music.
Fun fact: he invented the violin chinrest around 1820, now used by violinists everywhere! 🎶

🎻 Warm‑up with intention
Start with 5-8 minutes of focused scales and arpeggios; it wakes up your fingers so the rest of your practice feels effortless.

🎻Isolate and conquer
Pick one challenging spot in your music and slow it down. Work until it feels secure, then connect it back into the phrase.

Small changes can lead to big progress! Let’s welcome spring with purpose and beautiful sound.
