The Historical land is where the first Atherton families lived in 1835-present day. Burton township 1855-1972 now the City of Burton, Michigan started in 1835 by the 3 Atherton brothers and nephew Pliny Atherton Skinner, which are the historical family that came from Jefferson County, New York. They settled with their families on the Thread Creek in Burton, Michigan and started a community with 30

family within the first 12 months. Our community of about 30,000 in 2013 has went from a township to a city in 1972. The Atherton's came from England to be one of the first set of Colonies in Boston in 1654, they fought in all the wars to keep America free!
