Friel Early Childhood Center

Life is an adventure…if you have kids you especially understand this. Our Friel Center and everyone else has experienced unchartered waters during this Covid 19 pandemic, which has carried all of us through some courses we could do without.

One of these for us is that our center is permanently closing. Our director is retiring and the school district is navigating the storm of educating K-12 students during the virus’ disruption of normalcy. For all of us at Friel Early Childhood Center, it has been immense joy to be part of the lives of all our students and families over the years.

We wish everyone the best always, especially now as we live through this pandemic.

Good morning, Friel Family! The GISD recently informed us about their resource hub filled with learning packets for grades K-8, as well as Preschool & Infant/Toddler age levels. Feel free to download the Preschool packets each week, to help keep your kiddos on-track for the upcoming school year, or if that isn’t immediately possible, click the dots (“...”) in the upper-right corner of this post and save it until you can. Good afternoon, Friel Families! As you may have heard, all K-12 school buildings in Michigan are closed through the end of the school year. This, unfortunately, means our program is also closed through the end of the school year. At this time, we are getting updates on certain aspects of our program; this includes the possibility of personal belonging pickups at some point in the upcoming weeks. We will keep everyone updated with regards to these changes.

🏫 Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has ordered all public, private, and charter school buildings to remain closed for the remainder of the school year.

We currently do not know what this means for our schools, but we just wanted to share to make sure the maximum amount of people learn about this. Please stay safe!

Again, these are the locations for the Bendle meal sites. The free meal program starts today!

For the duration of the shutdown, Bendle Schools are offering meals for kids in a similar fashion to our summer meal program. Please follow the link for more details:

Friel Family: We are closed today until April 6th, in accordance with the school shutdowns. Please keep an eye on the news for updates. Thank you!

All K-12 schools in Michigan closing for 3 weeks starting Monday Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced late Thursday that schools will be required to close from March 16 to April 5. Classes will be allowed to begin again on April 6 unless the situation changes.
