Meet the new staff members who are helping to keep our schools safe and secure!

Whether you're attending an event at a One91 school or driving around the Burnsville, Eagan and Savage communities in the evening during the school week, there's a good chance you might spot ISD 191 Community Education Security Ambassadors Aleah and Allyson and the Community Services vehicle. 🚐

As security ambassadors, Aleah and Allyson are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of school district properties. They are also responsible for providing assistance and support to anyone using the facilities, including students, staff, guests and community members.

Please join us in warmly welcoming Aleah and Allyson, and make sure to say hello 👋🏼 if you cross paths with them!

The Minnesota School Boards Association has set September as Minnesota School Board Recognition Month, setting aside this month to recognize the hard work and incredibly important contributions of school board members.

As representatives of the entire community, School Boards are responsible for creating a vision and direction for districts. They ensure accountability when it comes to student achievement and fiscal management. Board members undertake a tremendous amount of work, studying education issues broadly and the specific issues affecting our community, and they do that so they can make difficult decisions that impact the lives of thousands of staff members, students and families.

We are especially fortunate here in One91 to have Board Members who work closely and respectfully with each other, that they honor the expertise of staff members, and they are fully dedicated to doing what’s best for our students and families.

"I’m grateful for their work, expertise and perspectives, and especially for trusting me to lead the One91 Community," said Superintendent Dr. Latanya Daniels. "So on behalf of our district, thank you to the members of the District 191 Board of Education."

🙋🏼 Every Day Counts in One91!

September is Attendance Awareness Month, and we want families to know that Every Day Counts in One91! ✨

Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school — and themselves! Start building this habit in preschool so they learn right away that going to school on time, every day is important. Eventually good attendance will be a skill that will help them succeed in high school and beyond.

👉🏽 Reporting an absence

Families can call their school's attendance phone line (or the District 191 attendance line at 952-707-2024) to report their child's absence. Parents/guardians can also submit the absence through the Student Absence Submission Form. Please note that the online submission form is for Full Day absences only. If you have any questions about reporting an absence or attendance policies, please reach out to your school.

Learn more about attendance at www.isd191.org/attendance.

It was exciting yesterday to finally welcome our youngest learners—preschoolers in ISD 191 Community Education Voluntary PreK (VPK)—to the new school year! 🏫

We had the opportunity to visit classrooms at Diamondhead Education Center, Edward Neill Elementary and Gideon Pond Elementary, and watch as students were curious in exploration, creative in playtime and engaged in learning.

As always, our dedicated staff members provided support and structure as they introduced students to how preschool works! 🖍️

It's been a great week of new beginnings! We're so thankful to be able to partner with families in their child's educational journey. 🥰
