Building Tomorrow Today: Behind the Scenes of the 2026-2027 BCISD Kickoff!

Building Tomorrow Starts with Our People! Friday morning was all about bringing our BCISD family together to kick off a brand new school year, and our staff showed up ready to make it a great one!

Campus spirit, big smiles, old friendships, new connections, and a little friendly competition was the perfect way to start the 26-27 school year. We laughed, we played, we connected, and we celebrated.

🎤 Coach Free returned as our emcee and kept the energy level high and the crowd laughing!

🎲Our staff jumped into games and activities that brought out lots of laughs and that competitive Bulldog spirit!

👕And we love seeing our campuses proudly representing in their new shirts for the 2026-27 school year - many of them embracing our Building Tomorrow Today theme in creative ways.

And of course, Convocation wouldn't be complete without hearing from our leader. Dr. Peña shared his vision for the year ahead, reminding us of the important work we have in front of us and the difference we have the opportunity to make for our students. Because building tomorrow isn't just about what we accomplish, it's about the people doing the building.

We are so proud of our incredible staff. Here's to a great year of collaboration, connection, creativity, and a whole lot of Bulldog pride!!

Building Tomorrow Today: Behind the Scenes of the 2026-2027 BCISD Kickoff!

🏆The Golden Paw BCISD Spirit Award has a new home!

Last year, Burnet High School took home the Golden Paw, and BHS Principal Casey Burkhart was determined to bring that trophy back this year and defend the title. Needless to say, the competition was fierce! 🎤👬

Our campuses brought their best, the spirit was HIGH, and there was no shortage of Bulldog pride as everyone battled it out for the coveted Golden Paw. But in the end, there could only be one winner...

🎉 Congratulations to our Auxiliary Departments - Transportation & Maintenance & Operations! They brought the energy, the enthusiasm, and the wigs and noise makers to take home the trophy for the 26-27 school year.

We love seeing the pride, personality, and camaraderie that make BCISD such a special place to work!

Building Tomorrow Today: Behind the Scenes of the 2026-2027 BCISD Kickoff!

We say it all the time, but Friday morning was proof: our community shows up for teachers, staff, and students! 💚

We had 70 vendors join us for our Back-to-School Breakfast & Vendor Extravaganza on Friday morning at Burnet High School, bringing together local businesses, churches, organizations and nonprofits to help us welcome back our 500+ BCISD staff members.

From a delicious breakfast provided by Miss Vickie's Catering, to the incredible collection of door prizes donated by our vendors, our community went above and beyond to make our staff feel celebrated as we kicked off the 26-27 school year.

And a special shout-out to our Spotlight Giveaway vendors! These generous community partners donated prizes valued at $100 or more, giving us six extra special giveaways, which we shared with our staff live during Convocation.

We are incredibly thankful to every vendor who donated a door prize. Every contribution added a little extra excitement to the morning and helped make our staff feel appreciated.

This is what community looks like, and we are lucky to be a part of it! There's no better place to be than BCISD!

Burnet Rotary Club got a preview of what’s ahead as Head Volleyball Coach Crystal Shipley and Head Football Coach Ben Speer shared updates on their programs and the excitement surrounding the upcoming seasons.

It's hard to believe but in just under 2 weeks we will welcome back our Bulldogs! We can't wait to see the smiles and hear the laughter ringing through our halls again.
