A huge thank you to Spring Craig for visiting our Culinary Arts classroom and teaching our students how to make delicious cake pops! Our students had so much fun learning new techniques, getting creative, and, of course, enjoying the results.

We are so grateful for the time, talent, and expertise she shared with our students. Thank you for inspiring the next generation of bakers!

From Coach Hairston:

The Burnet High School Cross Country teams turned in an outstanding performance Friday at the 2026 Belton Cross Country Invitational, bringing home two team championships, two third-place finishes, and several individual medals!
It was a big day for the Bulldog boys, as both the Varsity and JV Boys captured 1st Place overall.

The Varsity Boys put together an impressive team performance, scoring just 23 points against a field of nine teams. Burnet placed all five scoring runners inside the top eight, led by Clark Yanez, who claimed the individual championship with a three-mile time of 17:28.66. Isaac Vega followed in third, Christopher Hernandez placed fifth, Russell Ramirez finished sixth, and Cason Manning took eighth.
The JV Boys were equally impressive, winning their division with just 28 points. Jocsan Sanchez led the way by capturing the individual JV championship in 19:41.28. Leon Perez finished third, Layton Gaines fourth, and Zachary Lindsey sixth, giving the Bulldogs four runners among the top six finishers.

The Lady Dawgs also had plenty to celebrate, with both the Varsity and JV Girls earning 3rd Place team finishes. Kamila Palacios led the Varsity Lady Dawgs with an eighth-place finish in 13:21.96, followed closely by Jayde Smith in 10th, Brekyn Langley in 11th, and Ximena Zarate in 12th. For the JV Girls, Bella Lindsay led Burnet with a sixth-place finish in 16:28.37, while Vanessa Chavez crossed the line right behind her in seventh.

The Belton Invitational was another great showing for Burnet Cross Country and a testament to the work these student-athletes continue to put in each day. Beyond the medals and team trophies, our Bulldogs and Lady Dawgs competed with toughness, supported one another, and represented Burnet High School exceptionally well.

We are proud of all of our runners and excited to see what this group can accomplish as the season continues!

From Coach Shipley:

Last week, our Lady Dawgs had another great week of volleyball! We were able to get a home game in, and it was so exciting to see such a large home crowd on such short notice! Our JV2 (Freshman team) battled hard but fell in two close sets to Copperas Cove. Our JV White won a three-set thriller, and we are so proud of their strong finish! The Varsity Lady Dawgs also battled in an exciting five-set match but came up just short.

Thursday through Saturday, our Varsity Lady Dawgs competed in the Glen Rose Tournament against tough teams from all over the state of Texas. We went 1-2 on Thursday, falling to Andrews and Lubbock Liberty while picking up a win over Tolar. Friday was another 1-2 day, with losses to Liberty Hill and Pantego Christian (Arlington) and a win over Monahans.

On Saturday, we competed in the Bronze Bracket and went 3-0 to WIN the bracket! 🏆💚 We defeated Denton High, Legacy Ranch and Midland Christian! It was a great weekend of competing, getting better and continuing to find the chemistry we have been working so hard to build.

We are incredibly proud of this crew and the hours they continue to put in to get better every single day! BEAT YESTERDAY!

This week, we will host Johnson City on Tuesday before our Varsity Lady Dawgs finish their tournament season at the Little River Academy Tournament Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

We hope to see you in the BHS gyms on Tuesday! Come support your Lady Dawgs! 📣💚

Go Lady Dawgs! 🐾🏐💚

Burnet High School is proud to have earned an 86 in both Student Achievement and School Progress. We are also proud to have achieved the highest Closing the Gaps score in BHS history since the A–F accountability system was introduced. These results reflect the hard work and commitment of our students and staff as we continue striving toward even higher levels of achievement. BHS also received three distinction designations from TEA for academic achievement in reading, language arts, and science, as well as for being in the top 25% for comparative academic growth.

This year, we have set a goal to finish as an A! Spirit. Pride. Honor.
