TRAFFIC ALERT – FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

Families traveling to tonight’s football game should be aware of a major traffic incident on US Highway 281 at FM 1855, between Burnet and Marble Falls.

Due to an accident involving hazardous materials, both northbound and southbound lanes of US 281 are currently closed while emergency crews respond.

Please plan accordingly, allow extra travel time, and seek alternate routes if possible.

We will share additional updates as information becomes available. Please travel safely!

The Lady Dawgs had another outstanding week on the court as we continued our push toward the end of district play!

On Tuesday, we made the short trip to Marble Falls to take on the Lady Mustangs. Our Freshman team dropped the first set but showed tremendous fight and determination, battling back to win the next two sets and take the match! Our JV team also battled hard, falling in the first set before bouncing back to win set two. Unfortunately, they came up short in the deciding third set. Varsity faced a tight battle in the opening set but found their rhythm, came together, and took control of sets two and three to earn the victory!

On Thursday, we welcomed the Gateway Gators to Burnet, and the Lady Dawgs delivered a PROGRAM-WIDE CLEAN SWEEP! All three teams came out ready to compete, executed their game plans, and got the job done without dropping a single set! What a great way to defend our home court and continue building momentum as we approach the finish line of district play!

We have some incredible accomplishments to celebrate! Landry Schubert and Taylor Smith have officially joined the 300 KILLS IN A SEASON CLUB! This is no easy feat and speaks volumes about their commitment, hard work, and dedication to perfecting their game!

And that's not all! Peyton McCabe has earned her spot on the Burnet Lady Dawg Record Wall for kills in a season! Peyton currently sits at an incredible 393 kills, shattering the previous record by nearly 30 kills!

Having THREE hitters with over 300 kills in a single season is an extraordinary accomplishment! We are so proud of these three outstanding athletes and the work they put in day in and day out.

But here's what makes this achievement even more special: volleyball is a TEAM sport! These milestones would not be possible without the incredible passing, setting, assists, and teamwork that create opportunities for our hitters to succeed. Every serve received, every pass delivered, and every assist matters!

This isn't just an accomplishment for three outstanding players. It's a HUGE accomplishment for our entire Lady Dawg Volleyball program! Every teammate has played a part in making these milestones possible, and that's what makes this team so special. We celebrate individual excellence, but we know it takes an entire team working together to achieve greatness!

Our district records continue to improve:

🏐 Varsity: 8-0

🏐 JV: 6-2

🏐 Freshmen: 7-1

We are incredibly proud of the hard work, commitment, and determination these young ladies continue to demonstrate. Every match is an opportunity to grow, compete, and get better together!

NEXT WEEK: THE FINAL WEEK OF DISTRICT PLAY!

The Lady Dawgs will travel to Lampasas on Tuesday before returning home Friday to take on Lago Vista in our FINAL HOME MATCH OF THE SEASON! Friday will also be SENIOR NIGHT, as we celebrate and honor our seniors for their dedication and contributions to our program.

Our Burnet Bulldog Cross Country teams traveled to Lampasas yesterday to compete in the 2026 District 24-4A Cross Country Championship, which was highlighted by TWO DISTRICT TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS!

Varsity Boys – DISTRICT CHAMPIONS!

Our Varsity Boys put together an incredible team performance, capturing the District 24-4A Championship with 50 points, defeating second-place Marble Falls (60 points) and third-place Lago Vista (69 points). Junior Clark Yanez led the Bulldogs with an outstanding runner-up finish, placing 2nd overall with a time of 16:45.64 in the three-mile race. Junior Isaac Vega followed with a tremendous 4th-place finish (16:55.82), while sophomore Russell Ramirez earned 8th place (17:45.19). Junior Christopher Hernandez finished 15th (18:22.02), and freshman Cason Manning rounded out our scoring five in 21st place (18:42.58).

Their district championship secured their advancement to the Regional Cross Country Championships in Corpus Christi on October 26th!

JV Boys – DISTRICT CHAMPIONS!

Our Junior Varsity Boys were equally impressive, capturing the District 24-4A JV Championship with 32 points, finishing ahead of Lago Vista (54 points) and Georgetown Gateway (56 points). Even more impressive, our Bulldogs swept the top three individual finishing positions!

Junior Jose Flores claimed the individual district championship with a time of 18:54.31, followed closely by sophomore Gabe Castillo in 2nd place (18:57.91) and freshman Paxton Courtney in 3rd place (19:03.01). Sophomore Zachary Lindsay added a strong 6th-place finish (20:00.36), while freshman Layton Gaines completed our scoring five in 20th place (20:57.12).

Varsity Girls – 5th Place

Our Varsity Girls finished 5th overall with 102 points in a competitive district field. Sophomore Brekyn Langley led the Lady Bulldogs with an excellent 6th-place finish, completing the two-mile course in 13:26.16. Her performance secured a spot to advance to the Regional Meet. Senior Abby Bennight followed with a strong 13th-place finish (13:58.92), while sophomore Kamila Palacios placed 20th (14:13.42). Freshman Ximena Zarate finished 27th (14:34.36), and freshman Jayde Smith rounded out our scoring five in 36th place (15:27.83).

I am proud of how our girls competed and kept pushing themselves against strong district competition. Their effort and perseverance throughout the season have been tremendous, and we have a lot to be excited about with several young runners continuing to develop.

JV Girls – 4th Place

Our JV Girls finished 4th overall with 107 points. Junior Alyssa Juarez led the Lady Bulldogs with a 12th-place finish (16:01.55), followed by sophomore Brooklyn Flores in 18th (16:31.65). Senior Vanessa Chavez placed 24th (16:50.64), junior Bella Lindsay finished 25th (16:51.51), and junior Karla Rodriguez rounded out our scoring five in 32nd place (17:25.10).

Our JV girls have worked hard all season, and I appreciate their commitment, improvement, and positive attitudes.

Looking Ahead – Regional Championships!

As a coach, I couldn't be more excited about what our program accomplished at the district meet. Bringing home two district championships in the same morning is something special, and it reflects the dedication our athletes have shown since the beginning of the season.

I want to thank all of you for your support and encouragement of our runners over the past several months. We are excited to see our regional qualifiers carry this momentum into the Regional Championships as they continue their pursuit of a trip to the UIL State Cross Country Championships.
