| There is nothing quite like watching our students learn about the world through hands-on experiences and shared traditions! The Kindergarten teachers at Altamahaw-Ossipee Elementary created a special day for all their students by treating their classes to a paleta cart and inviting a guest parent to teach the kids how to make authentic tortillas from scratch! Thanks to ML Teacher Dana Sherwood for passing along these photos and sharing what makes events like this so special: "I love seeing our teachers celebrate different cultures, involve families, and create opportunities for all students to feel included!"

It's National School Lunch Week and we want to say thank you to our School Nutrition Staff who prepare and serve meals throughout the day in all our schools! 🍎🥦👏 As you can see here, Ms. Connie and Ms. Kali over at Alexander Wilson Elementary were serving students, staff, and visitors their choice of regular or spicy 🔥 chicken bites, macaroni and cheese, roasted broccoli, corn, apple sauce, and milk option. With trays in hand, Ms. Debbie checked them out quickly and they were on their way to enjoy their lunch! It was great to see families visiting and enjoying their lunches, too!

Laying the groundwork for a bright future! 🧱 Patrick Ariel, a senior at Western Alamance High School, took first place 🥇 in the North Carolina Masonry Contractors Association - NCMCA Intermediate Jr. Block Layer Competition. Building his expertise through an apprenticeship with NCMCA, Patrick stood out in a field of talented students from across the state during Masonry Education Day. His impressive work earned him a brand-new set of tools, and we're excited to watch him keep building on this momentum when he competes at the State Fair on October 19th! 👏

Would you ride off into the sunset on an ATV? 🏎️💨 The thought may have crossed these students' minds during Honda Manufacturing Day over at Honda's North Carolina Manufacturing facility in Swepsonville!

High school Career & Technical Education students got a behind-the-scenes tour to see firsthand what a production line looks like for products like ATVs and snowblowers. There was also a hands-on classroom setting with Honda experts, exploring the skills and tech behind what drives Honda's success as a company. Beyond learning about Honda's history and key career paths, students gained insight into the importance of soft skills like punctuality and teamwork.

Before getting back on the buses, students could sit inside some of the Honda Talon side-by-side off-road utility vehicles. Naturally, they had to strike a few poses for the feed. 📸✨

We set up our What's Good microphone in the hallway between Garrett and Hawfields during the recent Teacher Workday. Since it was a District Professional Learning Day, there were a lot of staff walking by to get some snacks and they were invited to share some good news! The responses are equally hilarious, insightful, inspiring, and heartfelt. As you can see, many also got a cupcake! Thank you to all who shared! Should we release the blooper reel?
