For our final senior introduction for the Class of 2023, we are proud to introduce Treasurer Ben Ashby!
"Hello everyone! My name is Ben Ashby, and I am serving as the treasurer of this year’s Boulder Society class. I am originally from Syracuse, New York, and I am currently wrapping up my degree in Engineering Management. Here on campus, I have been involved with the Outing Club as a trip leader and served as the treasurer during my junior year. After graduation in May, I will be continuing my work with Energy Efficient Investments as an Assistant Site Supervisor, helping to run environmentally focused commercial construction projects around Vermont."

Next we have our Vice President of this year's Boulder class, Kieran Hogan!
"Hey all! My name is Kieran Hogan and I’m serving as Vice President for this year’s Boulder class. I came to UVM from Hershey, Pennsylvania, and am in the process of finishing up my studies double majoring in Political Science and Environmental Studies, with a minor in Geography. Outside of the classroom I’ve been fortunate to have had some great experiences leading trips through UVM’s Outing Club — both through our first-year orientation Trek program and an annual Fall semester leadership development course centered on canoe instruction. I’ve found much of my senior year taken up by research work — I just completed my Honors College thesis project studying environmental gentrification in Rust Belt cities, and my defense is scheduled for the first week of May. Grateful for such a great year with all the Boulder members!"

Additionally I work as a Teaching Assistant in the Computer Science Department and am in my third year of my Data Analyst position with the Men's Varsity Soccer team. In the classroom, I recently finished my undergraduate studies in Data Science and will be entering into UVM's Accelerated Master's Program for Complex Systems and Data Science through the Vermont Complex Systems Center. After my studies I intend to enter into sports analytics, biometrics, and/or education policy! Please feel free to reach out with any questions or just for a chat!"

I am also completing my Honors College thesis in the Carr Lab in the Pharmacology department studying the relationship between a nuclear hormone receptor called TRβ and a gene called KDM1A in anaplastic thyroid cancer. On campus, I am also the Director of Finance for RALLYTHON, the Treasurer of Reformed University Fellowship, and a member of the Pre-Medical Enhancement Program."

Hello again! Following up on our last post, we would like to continue our introduction of this year's Boulder class. With that said, it is our honor to introduce this year's Historian, Max Perrotto!
"Hello! My name is Max Perrotto and I am a student in Data Science with a minor in Food Systems. I’ve been a resident of Chittenden County since I was 2 years old. Growing up here and choosing to stay here for school means that I’ve been able to see and aid in lots of change in my community, and change alongside it myself. I’ve done lots of work in admissions as a representative of our school, in mutual aid providing food for the people of Burlington, and after completing my Master's degree in Complex Systems and Data Science, I hope to be a part of my community in new and exciting ways. After graduation I will be working as a data scientist in some fashion, contributing to understanding the processes that better our communities."

Hello all!
Each year we like to introduce ourselves to our broader community to share some insight into the lives of each Boulder member. To start, let us introduce the President of Boulder Society's Class of 2023, and last year's Junior Link, Miles McCallum!
"Hello! My name is Miles McCallum and it's my pleasure to serve as the president of the Boulder Society class of 2023. I originally grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and I’m currently pursuing a dual degree in Community & International Development and Global Studies. On campus I served as president of the Black Student Union for two years and am now BSU’s historian. I also served as a resident advisor for two years in UVM’s Harris/Millis residence hall. Most of my time this year is spent doing research — I’m currently doing a thesis on contemporary Vermont independence movements and working on a project analyzing large scale land acquisitions and their effects on agrobiodiversity in Sub-Saharan Africa. I was fortunate last year to serve as both junior link and president of the Boulder class of 2022 and I look forward to continuing our good work from last year into this one!"

Hello all! It's been a while since we last posted, but we wanted to share some exciting moments with you. Here you can see two separate occasions picturing the Boulder Class of 2022.
Additionally shown is a majority of our incoming Boulder Class. Back in May, we held our traditional induction ceremony, where our newest members took the Boulder Pledge together. You can expect to get to know these folks sometime in the Fall.
Enjoy the remaining weeks of Summer, and thank you all for following us this past year!
