For international students who meet the University of Vermont admissions requirements but don't yet have the required English language level, the University of Vermont Global Gateway Program provides an undergraduate degree pathway that combines English training with 24-28 University course credits (equivalent to Year 1 of a bachelor's degree).
Gateway to Year 2 degree entry
The 2-term Global Gateway Program facilitates a smooth progression into Year 2 of a bachelor's degree, and helps international students fully integrate into American university life while enjoying the complete University of Vermont experience.
English for Academic Purposes
For students who need additional English language support, a 1-term pre-degree pathway program at the International Study Center provides intensive English language instruction.
English for Academic Purposes (EAP) develops international students' 4 key language skills of Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing, in the context of degree level studies. On completion, students are ready to join the 2-term Global Gateway Program.
Direct entry to a bachelor's degree
Fully-qualified international students are eligible to apply for direct entry into the University, but can choose to join the Global Gateway Program to benefit from dedicated academic support and cultural adjustment.
