Can you guess what these are?

These are Spotted Lanternfly eggs!

SLF can lay eggs from September-December, or until frost temperatures kill off the adults. Egg masses typically look like smears of mud, grey or brown in color, and 1-1.5 inches long.

Each mass can contain up to 50 eggs! These masses can usually be found on smooth tree bark, outdoor furniture, vehicles, walls-pretty much any relatively flat surface outside.

One of the best preventative controls for SLF is destroying the eggs before they hatch into next years population. They can be destroyed by manually scraping off of the surface they are attached to and smashing them afterwards.

Take a picture of a Callery Pear that you have cut down on your property this year and bring it with you to receive a native
tree replacement courtesy of the Boone County Cooperative Extension. Tree replacements will be 3-5 gallon pots.
Pear tree that is removed must be at least 4" in diameter, you must bring a picture as proof of removal. 1 tree per household.
