Primrose School of Burlington has opened many doors in my career as an early educator. From the start, I was immediately attracted to the positive, professional environment in stark contrast to the centers I had worked at in the past. I began as a preschool teacher in 2016 and within as little as a year, I was given the opportunity to change my role and work as a pre-kindergarten teacher.

PSOB offers the tools needed to extend learning and evolve your career in numerous ways. My journey to professionalism continued when I was asked to join the Faculty Development Team and take on more responsibilities. I am grateful to those that have aided in the development of my career over the past 2 years and I'm eager to see where the future will take me within this respectable company.

I began my career as a Kindergarten teacher in the public schools. I made the decision to leave the public schools once I realized it just did not match my philosophy of education. I believe that, especially in early childhood, students should receive an individualized education. They should be able to learn what they need to at their own pace. That can't always happen in the public schools.

From there I began working with a large program and eventually was overseeing eight early childhood programs within the Boston Public Schools. As much as I loved my work, the hours were incredibly long (70 hours per week), politics impacted the programs and I could no longer support the program. I began to feel stuck and I hated it. I had reached the point in my life where I wanted to feel secure in my job. I wanted to feel like I was building something permanent and worthwhile. I wanted my career to launch.

Around that time a colleague told me about a school she drove by every morning on her way to work. She commented that it looked like Harvard but for 4 year-old children and that was intriguing to me. So I went to check it out.

After completing my first year at Primrose, I could see the benefits of the way we do things. All of my Kindergartners graduated last year reading, writing, adding, subtracting, reading a clock and knowing three times the amount of sight words my public school students had learned. I also saw that they were much more well-rounded as individuals. They receive two recesses a day which allowed them to become much more proficient at problem solving. In my opinion, having free choice play time daily allowed them to build their leadership skills and learn to work with others. When I was teaching in the public schools, I was lucky if I was able to give them one fifteen minute recess a day and five minutes of unstructured play.

At Primrose, from the outside looking in, we operate like you would think a daycare does. We are open from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm each day. We have infant aged children through kindergarten aged children. But I mean it when I say we are a school. All the curriculum, right down to our infants, is created by a group of PhD's. The parents pay a premium for their children to receive the absolute best private education possible.

The owner of our school, Curt, is out to turn the Early Childhood field completely upside-down. We are considered professionals here and we all take what we do very seriously. Curt and his wife Rachel, along with the rest of the management team take great care of us and work tirelessly to help us grow as professionals.

They are so great at helping us grow professionally that I actually moved out of the classroom for this school year. The Management Team helped me to expand my knowledge of curriculum and instruction and I took on a brand new role to help the other faculty members develop their curriculum and instruction skills.

I have been working at PSOB for over 2 years and enjoy being a member of a community that strives to create and foster an environment of care, love, and learning. From the beginning of my career at Primrose, career development has been of great interest to myself and the Leadership Team. The Leadership Team goes above and beyond supporting all faculty members in their career ambitions both in-house or elsewhere.

In addition to endless opportunities to grow as a teacher and individual, being a teacher at PSOB is a rewarding job. With a beautiful facility filled with all the teaching material imaginable, we as teachers are able to execute the best possible curriculum to our children and help build long lasting partnerships with parents. The Primrose School of Burlington is the perfect place to be an early education teacher and the best place you can be to start building your career.

I began my career at Primrose School of Burlington just over three years ago. Before I came to this school, I was not sure of exactly what I wanted. I started here with a completed Associate’s Degree and experience with children of all ages but my true passion was with Pre-Kindergarten. PSOB gave me the opportunity to open my own Pre-Kindergarten classroom where I gained knowledge for a year as a teacher.

At past places of employment, I felt like a gloried babysitter, here at Primrose, I felt like a teacher and knew what I was doing made a difference. After about a year of teaching, a position on the management team opened up. After preparation and training I was moved out of the faculty teaching position and became a member of the management team. Primrose recognized that I wanted more responsibility and gave me the chance to prove myself.

Our philosophy is “Care, Love and Learn” and you can really tell that is incorporated into everything we do here at PSOB. Everyone in this school truly cares about the education of the children and producing a wonderful environment for the students. We love every child and have a passion to prepare them to excel in elementary school. Learning is not only for our students but for all faculty and team members. We have a wonderful tuition reimbursement policy because the owners, Curt and Rachel Van Emon encourage us to always continue our learning. I believe so much in the people and vision of this school that I recommended employment to one of my best friends and he has been teaching here for over a year.

During my time here I have grown so much, personally and professionally. I have gained more knowledge than I ever expected and now I have a career path I am following. I have declared what my ambition is and PSOB has supported my goal of finishing my Bachelor’s Degree in order to achieve it. I feel appreciated and valued by the executives everyday. This isn’t just a job but a career and I know that my future is within Primrose Schools.

When I started at Primrose School of Burlington I was unsure where exactly I wanted to be in the field of early childhood education. I had no previous experience other than I was attending school for elementary education. I came from a background of retail management. I began my career here as a support faculty member in the infant wing. I quickly realized I wanted to work with older children. The leadership team here at PSOB helped me with my goal and soon I became the support faculty member in the preschool wing. I loved every second of it but I still knew I wanted more. With a lot of hard work and communication I was offered the position of teacher in one of the preschool classrooms.

I have always been the kind of person to strive for the next thing or trying to advance myself in my career. There are so many opportunities here at PSOB. If you put your mind to it and work hard the leadership team will support you, help you cultivate and define your ambition for your career. I am now part of the faculty development team, where I am doing extra learning and trainings on the field of early childhood education. I have loved my experience so far at PSOB and I am thrilled and excited to see where I will go within this amazing company.

The Primrose School of Burlington's faculty made wonderful and creative 3-D displays for our annual holiday pageant.

The families who came to view the displays were very excited to see their children's work and the teacher's commitment to their learning and exploring of all the holiday traditions in December.

Thank you to the best faculty in New England.

The month of December we recognize, Ms. Angela Modzelewski, as the Apple of Our Eye because she started in July 2017 and in five short months she has become one of the most valuable faculty on our team.

Ms. Angela Modzelewski is always in a great mood and always willing to help with the children. She preps the curriculum in advance and keeps her assessments organized and up to date. She thrives in the Pre-Kindergarten program and the other faculty members who work closely with her feel grateful to work beside a wonderful person.

Ms. Modzelewski shows her deep dedicated to each child in her classroom. She arrives to school prepared for the day and always with a huge smile. We are fortunate to have Ms. Modzelewski with Primrose School of Burlington.

Congratulations to this exceptional early education professional.
