Little Explorers, Get ready for a special indoor adventure!

While our previous classes took us exploring outside, this time we are bringing the magic of nature right into the classroom. Little explorers will get to dive into the world of cool, slimy salamanders. Kids will get to see these amazing creatures up close and in person and observe different species up close to see their unique shapes, patterns, and colors.

High school graduates and college students! The Freda Carlin Scholarship and the Kentucky Association of Fairs and Horse Shows scholarship are not exclusive to 4-H youth. be sure to check them out and get your applications in soon!

4-H Seniors and graduates! Don't miss out on these THREE scholarship opportunities.

The Boone County 4-H Council selects 5 award recipients every year
• Must submit their application by October 1, 2026
• Applicant must be a current or former Boone County 4-H member, actively involved for the past four consecutive program years in project work, events, and/or activities. Must be enrolled in an accredited college, university, licensed trade, or vocational school.

The Freda Carlin Scholarship is also currently accepting applicants:
• Must submit their application by October 1, 2026
• The scholarship may be used for full-time or part-time students, selected to attend any college or accredited higher education undergraduate program in Kentucky (i.e., university, college, trade, or technical school). This scholarship is designated for tuition.
• Individuals under the age of 24 years are encouraged to apply.
• The scholarship recipient is selected based on good character, community engagement, and their focus on volunteer activities. A background with youth development programs (4-H, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, etc.) will be considered.

Kentucky Association Fairs & Horse Shows Scholarship:
• Boone County youth must submit their application to Cathy Fellows by Wednesday, September 16, 2026, 4:30 PM.
• Open to any youth that has participated in and has been an active volunteer at your local fair for several years but at least one year.
• Qualified youth shall be a senior in high school or enrolled in a post-secondary program of studies (college, trade school or military) but not having reached their 21st birthday by October 1st of the applying year.

Our Boone County 4-H Teen Leadership Club kicked off the new program year with lots of laughs, big ideas, and some friendly competition! Youth put their networking skills to the test to see who could be crowned a Leadership Legend, then worked in teams to talk about what matters most to them and how THEY want to make an impact in their community this year.

Their service project challenge really put their creativity to work! Teams were given limited resources and had to decide how they could make the BIGGEST impact possible. Each group approached the challenge differently, proving there is more than one way to make a difference! 💡💚

This is what Teen Leadership is all about: giving youth a voice, letting them lead, and turning their ideas into action.

Congratulations to all of our 2025 state archery extravaganza event participants and winners! Our youth did a fantastic job this year:

🏆 Rhett H won 2nd place compound bare bow 300 round and 1st place compound bare bow 3D round

🏆 Blake H took home 3rd place compound bare bow 3D round

🏆 Rhett H, Hadley G, Joshua R and Shelton M competed together to take home
1st place team, ages 9-11 compound barebow 300 round

🏆 Blake H , Violet L, Robert P and Charles R competed as a team to take home
2nd place team, ages 12-14, compound barebow 3D round

Join us for the day to spend time working on your own analog (granny craft) projects or learn a new skill. Meet others, get help, just hang out. There will be "mini sessions" throughout the day on topics from 2D Felting to Watercolors to Embroidery and Hand Sewing. A complete schedule will be sent to all who register. Bring your own lunch or plan to go out. We will have some basic snacks throughout the day.

🧵💚 Pillowcases with Purpose! 💚🧵

Our Sew Unique Design Club put their sewing skills to work for a great cause! Youth created handmade pillowcases that will be donated to children entering foster care right here in Boone County.

From first-time sewers to experienced stitchers, our 4-H'ers learned by doing while creating something special for someone else.

We are SEW proud of these youth for using their hands and hearts to make a difference in their community! 💚🪡

We have just a couple spots still open for our Wits Workout program. This multi-week experience will provide opportunities for adults to engage socially and intellectually. Join us for guided challenges. Plan to attend all seven sessions.
