🔺Calling All Quilters & Developing Quilters!🔺
Come help the project Pride & Joy push their community art quilts over the finish line. No sewing experience needed!
We have plenty of different tasks to complete, and many hands make light work. Here's what you can expect to jump into:
➡️ Binding quilts – an easy skill to pick up on the fly
➡️ Tying quilts – the simplest hand-quilting method, with room for several people to work on the same quilt at once
➡️ Hand quilting – just a bit trickier than tying, still simple, and also open to multiple people at a time
➡️ Appliqué and embellishments – sew on appliqué pieces and add embellishments to different quilts
➡️ "Heck Yeah!" affirmation quilt – write and decorate affirmations for q***r youth on quilt blocks for a special quilt headed to Outright Vermont
Bring yourself, your fam, a few friends you haven't seen in a while - all ages and abilities are welcome! Come as you are and learn a new skill or two while you help out. Skilled volunteers from local quilt guilds and fabric shops will be on hand at the technique-focused stations to help guide folks along.
Drop in anytime 10:00am-3:00pm and stay as long as you'd like.
About Pride & Joy

We've commissioned quilt designs from 10 local artists and are organizing a series of free, public crafting events inviting members of the community to contribute to the production of the quilts.
The quilts will be exhibited during the month of September, then auctioned off to fundraise for Outright Vermont.

⚡This is what seeing a project through looks like!⚡
Rae Kantrowitz is the creator of Chord Blocks, a music learning product that turns theory into something you can hold in your hands. You stack blocks to form chords, create sequences of chords to make songs, and through it all build an understanding of how harmony works… One block at a time!
Building a product like this takes skills in electronics, audio, 3D design, and more, and Rae has tackled it the way real hardware gets made… Prototype > Test > Learn > Iterate > Repeat. Initially she proved the concept with off-the-shelf components. But recently she has started designing her own custom PCBs and assembling the components using reflow soldering.
Another member, Paul Shepherd of Rugged MicroPower, helped guide her through the process of applying solder paste, positioning components, and cooking the boards in our reflow oven.
Rae doesn't come from a software or engineering background. What she has is persistence, curiosity, and zero hesitation about asking questions. That combination has carried her further than credentials ever could, and it should give anyone watching this project real confidence in her ability to deliver.
Generator's growing community of electrical engineers and hardware developers has built a culture where beginners are welcomed, questions are met with generosity instead of condescension, and knowledge gets shared freely. We didn't create that environment. Our members did.
Keep going, Rae! We can’t wait to see Chord Blocks in every school and music classroom out there!

Ever wondered how makers actually make money?
Methods & Means is back, and this time we’re trying something new. Instead of individual presentations, we’re pulling together makers, artists, and creative entrepreneurs for an open discussion about the economics of making.
Whether someone creates full-time, on the side, or purely for the love of it, there’s a story there. Our goal is to bring these stories into the open so we can all learn something.
As always, this event is FREE and open to the whole community.
