Doane Academy's college preparatory curriculum challenges students to develop leadership and character. At Doane Academy students are known, loved and encouraged to reach their full, unique potential. Students have every opportunity to develop themselves academically, athletically, in arts and music, and through extra curricular activities. They are challenged to become leaders in outdoor education courses and student government. Many are the alumni who graduate from here and not only thrive but become leaders in their colleges because of the rigorous training they had here. For these reasons our slogan is "The Opportunity Within." Doane Academy is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) and the Association of Delaware Valley Independent Schools (ADVIS). The school is accredited through Middle States. The Spartans compete in inter-scholastic athletics through the Burlington County Scholastic League and the NJSIAA. All high school students must play at least one sport and no one gets cut. The 3rd Annual Kindergarten + First Grade Buddies Program is officially BACK!
Today, our Kindergarten and First Grade friends were each given their very own hand-selected buddy! They played a fun game together and then had a BIG drumroll as each friend received their special buddy. Once everyone received their buddy, they headed outside to play together on the playground.

This special program gives our students opportunities to build new friendships, grow together, and make memories throughout the year. As our First Graders practice leadership and kindness, our Kindergarteners practice responsibility, friendship, and being part of a community.

We are looking forward to all of the fun buddy activities we have planned for each month!

After a double overtime match versus Wilberforce Academy, the Spartan Boys had played to a 3-3 draw. Mert Bolat delivered a goal and two assists, while Josh Rivera and Ahmet Dume each drove in one goal apiece. And Allen Yi stopped 20 of 23 shots in the effort. The boys team plays again tomorrow, at Medford Tech.

The Lady Spartans fell to WIlberforce Academy 2-1. Beren Firat scored the lone goal for the team, with Bella Janson and Brooke Sadar assisting. Kenzie Strimple had 20 saves in goal. The girls also play at Medford Tech on Friday.

Our son Ace began his journey at Doane during the height of Covid, a time when he struggled with writing and speech. Thanks to the extraordinary collaboration and dedication of the Lower School Head and teachers, he not only overcame those challenges but he flourished. By third grade, he was proudly named the Rotary Club winner.

Today, Ace is a math wiz who debates us endlessly at home, confident and curious in all the best ways. We truly believe that without Doane and its exceptional faculty and staff, our son wouldn’t be thriving the way he is now. We are deeply grateful for the impact this community has had on his growth.

The fourth and fifth grade students were the first group of Lower School students to visit the Library Company of Burlington this year. There they learned about the history of the library, which started in 1758, when New Jersey was still a British colony! After looking at some interesting pictures, documents and books from long ago, they moved into the newer section of the building and took a tour of what the library has to offer. A pop-quiz and some fun STEAM activities were included.

This walking trip to the library is one that all of our Lower School students will get to do. First through third grades are up next, with pre-k and kindergarten rounding out the trips in mid- October.
