A creative friend of mine once paid $4,000 to a professional developer. Recommended by a real customer. Real money, real professional. 💰

What did he get? Nothing he asked for — and somebody who argued with his creative vision the entire time. 😤

Here's what nobody talks about: hiring a developer isn't the hard part. Hiring one who listens is.

Stop Renting Tools (Own What Works)

The $20/month website trap. 🪤

I had a call this week with a brilliant creative paying $20 a month for an AI-built website. On top of that, he's spending his own hours wrestling with it. And it's still not booking him a single client.

Read that again. He's paying $20/month... to do all the work himself... for a website that doesn't bring in business.

Here's the math nobody does:

the subscription + your hours + zero customers = the most expensive website you could possibly own.

Meanwhile, people hesitate to pay someone to just do it right — someone who's built 1,000+ websites, has a computer science degree, and used to work at Facebook. One time. And the thing actually books clients.

The platform isn't the product. The product is someone who knows what a website is supposed to do.
