This week was a powerful reminder of what can happen when we invest our time, energy, resources, and belief in young people.

Our Academic & Career Exploration Youth Showcase celebrated three years of ACE and offered an incredible window into the program through the voices of the young people who have grown alongside it.

The youth panel was the heart of the evening. Stuti, Alex, Esta, and Calvin reflected on the experiences that have shaped them, offered thoughtful and honest feedback about the program, shared where they're headed next, and spoke about the people and opportunities that have helped them get there.

Their confidence was unmistakable. So was their ability to imagine a future for themselves, identify what excites them, and begin building their own pathways forward.

This is why investing in young people matters. When we give them opportunities to explore, take risks, build relationships, and discover what they're capable of, they don't just prepare for what's nextโ€”they gain the confidence and tools to shape it for themselves.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to listen, celebrate, ask questions, and learn from our youth. To the partners, supporters, mentors, businesses, and community members who continue to open doors alongside us. Thank you to NorthCountry Federal Credit Union for not only being a Champion Sponsor, but also an incredible financial literacy partner for the ACE program! Thank you to Hula for being our venue partner and truly amazing hosts.

When we invest in young people, we invest in what's possible.

Sometimes the simplest activities spark the biggest conversations. ๐ŸŒธ

Our Middle School Girls Group recently took a flower walk, where each participant created a tiny bouquet by filling a hand-drawn vase with flowers they chose themselves. Although everyone started with the same materials, every creation was completely unique.

That became the perfect reminder that beauty was never meant to look the same.

Together, the group reflected on beauty standards, comparison, and the pressure so many young women feel to fit a certain mold. Like the flowers they gathered, each girl's story, perspective, and strengths are different... and that's exactly what makes them beautiful.

Creating spaces where young people can explore who they are, build confidence, and celebrate their individuality is just as important as any lesson taught in a classroom. ๐Ÿ‘‘

What happens when young people can picture themselves somewhere new?

Last week, our high school Academic & Career Exploration youth traded their familiar surroundings for three days in Boston exploring college campuses, navigating a vibrant city, visiting cultural landmarks, and experiencing new environments alongside their peers.

For many, it was a chance to see not only what a college campus looks like, but what it feels like to confidently explore a new city and imagine themselves thriving somewhere new.

Creating experiences that expand what's possible is what ACE is all about.๐ŸŒ†

A safer community starts with children.

Too often, we define public safety by how we respond after someone is already in crisis.

What if we measured it by how well we prevent children from ever reaching it?

Our Executive Director reflects on why prevention, and the voices of children and families, must be at the center of the conversation.

Dog Days are hereโ˜€๏ธ

Some summer days are for resumes and career exploration. Others are for lakeside hangs, sandy feet, skipping rocks, and laughing with your friends.

Turns out, both matter.

Because sometimes the most important thing we can do is give young people the space to just be kids. These moments of joy, belonging, and carefree play aren't separate from healthy development... they're part of it.

We're soaking up every bit of summer while we can. ๐Ÿ’› Help fuel summer fun at https://ow.ly/rWeq50ZtB2S

Summer joy spilled into the street yesterday as neighbors, families, staff, volunteers, and friends came together for our annual Block Party... and the King Street Center magic was everywhere. ๐Ÿ‘‘

Some favorite moments:

A huge thank you to Mother Nature for holding off the rain just long enough for us to celebrate this amazing community.

None of this happens without incredible community partners. Thank you to Rock Point Advisors, Community College of Vermont (CCV), Vermont Housing Finance Agency, and Champlain Housing Trust for helping make this day possible. Thank you for investing in joyful childhoods, strong families, and a community where everyone belongs.

Lights. Camera. Action. ๐ŸŽฌโœจ

Our rising sophomores in the Academic & Career Exploration program didn't just visit Driven Studio they became the writers, directors, producers, and stars of their own reality TV-style short film.

From brainstorming storylines to filming scenes and bringing plenty of laughter to the set, this project challenged our youth to think creatively, collaborate as a team, and confidently tell a story. Those same skills are at the heart of the work happening every day at Driven Studio, where creativity becomes a powerful tool for communication, connection, and future career opportunities.

A huge thank you to the team at Driven Studio for welcoming our students, sharing your expertise, and partnering with them to bring this fun project to life. ๐ŸŽฅ๐Ÿ’™

Nothing says summer quite like chasing water, laughing with delight, and cooling off with friends. These moments may look like simple fun, but they're also filled with discovery, joyful memories, and tiny acts of braveryโ€”like taking that first trip down the splash pad slide.

Childhood looks pretty good from up here on the roof!

A glimpse into what's possible. ๐ŸŽ“

Last week, a few of our rising ACE sophomores visited the University of Vermont for a day of exploration and discovery. From an admissions information session and student panel to touring classrooms, the library, student center, and dorms, youth got a firsthand look at life on a college campus.

Experiences like these help young people turn future goals into real possibilities. ๐Ÿ’›
