Our Read-A-Thon officially kicks off tomorrow, Monday, October 19! For the next two weeks, every minute your child reads helps our school.

We want to send a sweet shout-out and huge thank you to The A Team at EXP Realty and Maghon Taylor for treating our staff to a delicious breakfast of fresh bagels and iced coffee! It was such a special treat and so very much appreciated. Also a shout out to Highland Elementary PTA for organizing!

Wear your brightest neon and glow gear, and join us for Highland Elementary’s Fall Dance! We’re looking forward to a fun evening of music, dancing, and making memories with our Hawks.

• K–1 early entry: 5:00 PM
• All other grades: 5:30 PM

🎟️ Tickets:
• Presale: $5 per student
• Presale closes at NOON on Thursday, November 5
• Day-of admission: $6 per student

Please read before purchasing: This event is for Highland students and their adult chaperones only. Every student must attend with a parent, guardian, or chaperone, with a maximum of two adults per family. Non-Highland siblings and relatives cannot attend as additional guests.

🍕 Pizza and concessions will be available! Please bring cash for food, drinks, and treats, as cards may not be accepted.

🎶 Parents, put on your dancing shoes for our 5-Minute Flashback! The DJ will play some throwback hits to get you on the dance floor—do it for the kids! 😄

Our fundraising goal is $1,250 to support our Highland Hawks. If you can’t make it, please consider making a donation to help us reach that goal.

"Do you have a pumpkin in your pocket?" was heard through the hallways today at Highland... 🎃

Four staff members started the day with a hidden pumpkin in their mailbox. Throughout the day, staff members went around asking each other, "Do you have a pumpkin in your pocket?" If asked, whoever had a pumpkin had to hand it over! The goal? Be holding a pumpkin at the final bus call to win a gift card! ✨

🚒 Fire Safety Week at Highland Elementary! 🔥

​We had a fantastic visit from the Burlington Fire, NC Fire Department today! 👨‍🚒👩‍🚒

​Our students got an up-and-close look at fire safety with some amazing demonstrations:
✨ A lightning-fast gear race to see which firefighter could suit up the quickest (and a full walkthrough of all their protective gear!).

📞 A visit from 911 Communications Operators, who demonstrated real-time emergency calls and answered questions about what happens when you dial 911.

🐶 A super fun fire safety trivia game for the students with a guest appearance by none other than Sparky the Dog!
