If you chose to reveal the secret, will that hurt anymore or less then if someone else forced you or revealed it for you?

I do not believe that losing all secrets hurt. I believe that losing certain secrets hurt more than other secrets.

Are certain secrets meant to be kept forever or should all secrets be revealed in due time?

I am of the mindset that I don’t need to know everyone’s secrets nor do I believe that all secrets need to be told.

What’s your secret weapon to managing your secrets? How do your secrets give you strength?

I sometimes eat a healthy meal, but secretly look forward to my chocolates late at night.

I have on certain days been able to act full of energy but secretly know that my nap is what keeps me going.

While these secrets aren’t detrimental to share, having certain private secrets make me feel as if I’ve got a secret weapon. I’m, ofc, not sharing those secrets… as those are mine to keep.

How do your secrets act as your secret weapon?

One of the best ways I’ve used to test people in advance if they can keep a secret is to share an irrelevant fact about me that I didn’t worry or care if it got out.

When my father died at 72, I learned that he had six girlfriends.

I shared this with a friend of mine and less than two days later, a mutual acquaintance came up to me and said how she was shocked to hear that my father had six girlfriends.

This acquaintance of ours had no idea the gift that she had given me. For I knew for sure that I could not trust the other friend.

What secrets have you traded or kept, not because you wanted to but because you had to?

Sometimes in life, we do what we want and sometimes we do what we have to… I believe there is a way to find a solution in which both the have to and the want can be combined.

How can what you do with your secrets be both what you want and not just a have to?

When I was a child, I kept my dad’s adulterous life a secret.. when I got older, I told my friends in order to keep my sanity and peace.

What’s your secret or shall we say “secret weapon” to making a home?

If lies and secrets don’t make a home, what does? We all have different answers.

For me- unconditional and equal reciprocity.

When someone does a favor, there should be zero contingencies or expectations.

A giver should give without expecting to receive.. but.. if she only gives… then the receiver doesn’t deserve receiving.

How to frame any secret so that you are the hero in the story.

Having the upper hand when dealing with a secret.

1. In advance, prepare both your justification for your actions and an explanation for keeping it a secret.
2. Plant your defense earlier on so that when the secret is revealed, others will have more compassion.
3. Discretely and strategically communicate why you would tolerate, accept and have compassion for anyone who would maybe do the same.

My childhood secrets:
My sister and I stole candy but she got caught…
My dad cheated on my mom since she was pregnant with me.
As a child, we didn’t have any insurance and accumulated debt and filed bankruptcy.
