At The Little Chicken Coop, we’re building a growing collection of age-appropriate, abridged classic literature to support our homeschool families and community book clubs.

We’re currently seeking individual and business sponsors to help us purchase adapted editions of classical works by authors such as Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, the Brontë sisters, William Shakespeare, Mark Twain, and other literary greats. These are examples of the type of literature we study, allowing children to explore timeless themes, rich language, and cultural history in an accessible way.

💛 Sponsorship Levels:
📖 $50 — Sponsors abridged classics for three families
📖 $125 — Gets us halfway to our monthly book club goal
📖 $250 — Sponsors the entire book club for one month

These months kick off our spring semester focused on British authors, introducing students to some of the most influential voices in literary history through developmentally appropriate materials and guided discussion.

The Little Chicken Coop – January Reading

We are so excited to share that The Little Chicken Coop is launching a family book club this January! Our first book will be Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens — a timeless story that is still read, studied, and adapted today.

To make this accessible for different ages, we’ll be offering:
• 📖 A 6–9 year old abridged version
• 📖 An 8–12 year old abridged version 📚✨

Throughout the month, we’ll be exploring:
✨ The major themes in Charles Dickens’ work — kindness, justice, poverty, and compassion
✨ Why Oliver Twist is still relevant today
✨ How and why the story has inspired so many movie and TV adaptations over the years
✨ Thoughtful discussions that help children connect classic literature to real life

This book club is designed to be engaging, age-appropriate, and family-friendly, giving kids a chance to enjoy classic literature while learning how stories shape culture and history.
