Welcome to school year 2026-2027 Highline Native Education families, students, and friends! We cannot wait to see you in our schools, in community, and at our next gathering on October 22nd 6 PM at Highline Heritage Museum with food and cultural learning from Native Soul Cuisine 🧑🧑🧑 More details coming soon! BIG update: we are so, SO sad that Native Literacy and Culture Specialist John Reamer (Makah/Yankton Sioux) has returned home to be with family in Neah Bay but we are so, so excited to see what the future holds for him as a Native educator and a leader πŸ’ͺ🏽☺️ His contributions to our Highline community, and beyond, are indelibly etched. Once Highline? Always Highline 😊 Our job opening for the Native Literacy and Culture position will be posted soon but in the interim feel free to reach out via [email protected] to inquire about the job requirements/details. Thank you also to ALL of you rock star family leaders, students, staff and friends of the Highline Native Education Program, and our very special cultural knowledge holders and Highline forever-family Kaya and Roger Fernandes (Lower Elwha Klallam) for showing up in a huge way at our back to school event at the Highline Heritage Museum last week. You continue to inspire and bless us and our community in all the ways. We raise our hands to you, *all of you*. Always \o/

On Juneteenth, we stand in solidarity with the Black community in the fight for equality and justice. Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and serves a reminder of the struggles Black Americans have faced. Join us in reflecting on this history and celebrating freedom, hope, and empowerment for all.

60 years ago today, Muckleshoot Tribal Members came together to demand recognition of our treaty-protected fishing rights. The Muckleshoot Treaty Trek sparked the movement that led to the Boldt Decision, a turning point in the fight for tribal sovereignty. On this milestone anniversary, we honor those who fought for our rights as well as those who are continuing to protect them for the future.
