Burgin Independent FFA and Greenhouse

Tonight, nine Burgin FFA members had the opportunity to serve at the Mercer County Fair Legacy Dinner. They worked hard, represented Burgin FFA and Burgin School with pride, and did an outstanding job! We are so proud of these students and the way they represented our school and community! We are thankful for opportunities that support the Burgin FFA!

Today Mrs. Milburn’s floral design class was able to visit Daycrest Farm to learn about their produce and flower field operation. While there students were allowed to cut flowers to make into arrangements. We are so thankful for the opportunity and hospitality the Bisher family showed us!

Ag Field Day

We invite all farmers (full, part time & hobby), agriculture businesses, and anyone with an interest in agricultural production to come out and take part in this educational field day.

There's still plenty of time to sign up for this year's Sunshine Class, offered by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture at the Kentucky State Fair. Register in advance and show a lamb in the livestock ring in Broadbent Arena on August 26 at 9 am. You can also register to be part of the preview day on July 31 at Lakeview Park in Frankfort. Tonight at the Mercer County Sheep Show, we had three Burgin Elementary students exhibit their sheep! Those students were: Bailey Kirkland, Adalyn Kirkland, and Silas Johns.

Burgin FFA member, Shane Abel made his sheep showing debut as well in the showmanship class.

All of these students did a great job tonight! Burgin FFA is proud of them and looks forward to them showing more in the future! Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get a picture of all of them showing, so we got a group picture at the end!

Congratulations to our own Leah Jenkins for exhibiting the Mercer County Youth Supreme Junior Heifer, Mercer County Youth Supreme Senior Heifer, Senior showmanship class winner, and the C.H. “Buddy” McRay Supreme Youth award.

We love when we have younger students visit the greenhouse! Super thankful to be able to have opportunities to teach our younger Burgin students about growing and caring for plants!

Thank you to each and every person who purchased plants from our greenhouse this season! We hope you enjoy your plants all summer long! We also hope you will keep us in mind next year as we continue to improve and strive to produce quality plants for our customers!
