Yearbook update!

Yearbooks are sold out! Due to high demand and a shortage in supply, only enough yearbooks were printed to cover pre-orders. If you did not get a chance to pre-order a yearbook, you can still get one delivered directly to your home. Since the printers are backed up, delivery will take additional time.

For pre-orders, the yearbooks will go home with your child either on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday of next week May 24-26.

This is big news!

We wanted to send a heartfelt thank you to the Burbank Arts & Education Foundation for their generous grant to be applied to our “Bret Harte Ceramics Program.” The grant will go towards purchasing a brand new kiln, which will be used for many, many generations to come.

The Bret Harte PTA will also be supporting this effort with funds raised at the beginning of the school year.

What does this mean? It means, there might be a lot more ceramics headed your way!

City Council member Sharon Springer came to see our waste separation program last a Friday and showed students some compost from her home compost bin and the cool worms and worm eggs. 🌱🪱

April is World Autism Month as well as Autism and Neurodiversity month. Burbank schools are taking the opportunity to spread acceptance and inclusion of neurodiversity through spirit days, activities and ribbons. Bret Harte Elementary kicked off their month long acceptance campaign on Friday, April 1, by encouraging students and staff to wear blue in support of their fellow students.

Dear Parents and Bret Harte Community,

Tomorrow we will be distributing at-home CoVID test kits to your child. There are two tests in each kit. Please read the attached document for more information about the tests. Please administer the test if you have not had your child CoVID tested. You are asked to share the test results through a google form.

If your child is not in school tomorrow, you can pick up their test kit tomorrow between 3:15 and 4:00. A table will be set up in front of the main doors of school. You will need to identify your child's teacher and child's name. We will only be giving test kits to family members. If you cannot pick up tomorrow between 3:15 and 4:00, please pick up at school as early as possible on Thursday, January 6.

Also attached here are flyers with information about CoVID testing available at BUSD school sites. Please review and use the link to schedule an appointment.

Finally, please read the latest guidelines about current masking guidelines and requirements.

It is time to bring our Bret Harte community together to support families in Burbank through Burbank Coordinating Council's Holiday Basket program.

Bret Harte will be accepting food donations starting tomorrow, Wednesday, November 17th through Tuesday, December 7. We suggest:

KINDER & 1st graders: donate Breakfast Items & Snacks
2nd & 3rd graders: donate Lunch Items & Snacks
4th & 5th graders: donate Dinner Items & Dessert
Faculty, Staff, & Parents: Toiletries & Household items

Boxes are in the front hall to collect the items. Your child can bring them to school or you can drop them off by checking in at the front office.
