The Byrd School PTO will be hosting a Holiday Shop on Thursday, December 13th and Friday, December 14th. Volunteers are needed to make this year’s shop a success. Lunch will be provided by the PTO for all volunteers on both days.

As a thank you for attending, parents and guardians will receive raffle tickets for the Halloween Bash raffle. The Scholastic Book Fair will be open for a special Family Shopping Night right after the meeting. Mark your calendar! See you then!

Please join us for our first PTO meeting of the year on Thursday, September 6th at 6:00pm in the Byrd School teacher's lounge. As a thank you for attending, each family will receive a bracelet, good for one FREE admission to the Byrd School Back-to-School Carnival. Byrd School's Back to School Night is Monday, August 27th from 6:00pm-7:30pm. Stop by to meet your child's teacher and drop off school supplies. Be sure to stop by the PTO table on your way in to receive a FREE sample pack of goodies and a flyer with details about the first PTO meeting. Welcome back! It's going to be great year!

Our first PTO meeting for the year is this Wednesday, September 14th at 6:00pm in the teacher's lounge. We have met so many new parents at the Back to School Rally and Back to School Night. We hope to meet so many more at our first meeting. See you then!

Byrd School honored Veterans from several conflicts, including WWII, the Korean War, and Vietnam on Thursday, November 12th. Veterans were treated to a catered breakfast from Chuck's Southern Comforts Cafe and entertained by the Legacy Girls, an Andrews Sisters tribute group. Students personally thanked the veterans and presented them with handwritten letters. Veterans, we thank you for protecting America and fighting for our freedom. We are humbled by your sacrifice and thank you for your service!

The instructors from the Burbank Park District's Fusion RecPlex sure know how to turn fitness into fun. Drumstick Dance was a hit with all of our K-6 students and staff! Contact the staff at Fusion if your children would like to keep drumming to the beat.

The theme for Byrd School's Family Reading Night was fairy tales. The night focused on the tales of Chicken Little, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and Little Red Riding Hood. Families took part in reading activities and crafts and chose books during the book exchange. The night also featured a PTO-sponsored performance of all three fairy tales by The Melikin Puppets. Thank you, Mrs. Livingstone, for organizing such a fun Family Reading Night!

A great big thank you goes out to all the families, teachers, and staff that made our Culver's Night a huge success! We had a great turnout! Thanks, Scoopie, for a fun family night!
