How is a pastor really an artist? How can joy, hope, love & peace mark my life and family? How do I reflect Christ?

Some of the big Questions gripping my life right now.

03/13/2020

Whether your church is meeting in person or online this week, let's recognize that we ARE the church more than we GO to church. Love your neighbor, co-worker, friend, family in Jesus name during this critical time

TCOTW is gathering online this Sun because we're driven by love for our community (Mark 12:31) submitted to our governmental authority (Rom 13:1-2) & surrendered to God! According to Phil 4 we've non-anxiously prayed & sense the peace of God in this decision. See you online!!!

TCOTW made the decision to gather online & in homes this weekend. NOT because we are afraid, but because we're called to serve & love our city. If you think church only happens in a sanctuary, you may have the wrong idea of church

Thanks Annette...I'm encouraged with what the Lord is doing in all of us right now!

Annette ColónAlvarenga on Twitter “Today's message was something else! Maybe it's because I was so messed up when I surrendered my life to Christ; maybe because I was still very messed up for many years afterward that these messages resonate with me, https://t.co/NJn7w8t1s4 Thankful for & ”

As a pastor, Jonathan Gold's writing helped me understand, appreciate & take joy in my city's culinary, & more importantly, cultural breadth & depth; anyone wanting to do ministry in LA needs to read as much JGold as possible.

From Jonathan Gold's 5 rules for dining in L.A: "1. If the restaurant you have been directed to lies between the 7-11 & the dry cleaners in a dusty strip mall, then you're probably at the right place" SO TRUE!!!

"He understood, in his bones, the many ways that food is a powerful way to create community...he knew that restaurants aren’t really about food. They’re about people" ( on Jonathan Gold)

Retweeted Ed Stetzer ():

"Some Christians are already speaking up on [the issue of family separation]... Christian women leaders have started a campaign fighting against the separation of families at the border."

If anyone gets an instagram message from 'pastortimclark_" it's NOT me...someone duplicated my account. Don't follow or respond to the 1 with the underscore at the end of the name... I am just "pastortimclark".

Hey if anyone got or gets an instagram direct message from me about the IMF (by the way, that's the International Monetary Fund...NOT the Impossible Mission Force), it's not me...someone duplicated my account; I am "pastortimclark" not "pastortimclark_". So block the one with the underscore if you get invited to be THAT guy's friend. Thanks!

Temporarily coming out of tweet hiatus to say, just had breakfast in Sherman Oaks & I'm CERTAIN I just found my new favorite SFV restaurant.

Some of you may have seen posts over the last 4 months targeting me that express frustration regarding our church ending a particular ministry that provided a weekly meal and ministry to our homeless neighbors: I haven't commented because what I say publicly about this has been twisted, and frankly I haven't wanted to be defensive; I figure people can believe or not believe what's being said...or better yet, ask leadership about it. But lately these negative posts have been specifically targeting our kids and youth. As a shepherd I need to respond to help cover our young people: Ending the Thursday night meal was a difficult, but we believe right, decision; since adjusting our ministry strategy to our community, we have significantly increased our efforts to the homeless, hungry and underserved in our neighborhood: We've started providing groceries (along with ministry) for hundreds every week, and we're newly funding/partnering with multiple local homeless ministries who serve the same people (and many more) who we were serving once a week, but they're doing it every day, providing meals, showers, shelter, and resources (blankets, socks, etc.) with resources and daily consistency we couldn't approach. We understand that we aren't ministering exactly the way some would prefer anymore, and it's ok to be sad about the closing of a ministry, but it's disingenuous and divisive to state that we're no longer serving or care about homeless people. We've simply made a spiritual and strategic decision to adjust the way we reach our neighborhood friends, but we are still doing it with effective impact. If anyone has questions please feel free to call the church office and ask for me, Carmen Quevedo or Dan Hicks (one of us will get back to you), as I'm very rarely on facebook and may not see responses to this to engage with. Thanks for your support and for your prayers as The Church On The Way continues to seek to be radically obedient to all the Lord leads us towards.
