Core memories made through this life-changing experience!! 💫

Last Thursday, we had the honor of debuting at Hollywood Bowl for this historic concert!! Our ETM-LA students joined Gustavo Dudamel and the LA Phil to celebrate the Maestro’s 17 years as Music & Artistic Director. Conducted by Dudamel, our Orff Ensemble performed a world premiere “Hymns of the Heart” by Michael Giacchino and narrated by Amanda Gorman - alongside the LA Phil, LA Children’s Chorus, and YOLA.

Giacchino’s Hymn is an anthem for our youth and this world: “Can you listen, to the children, to our voices, and our vision.” This is a CALL TO ACTION. To leave the world better for our children and the next generations. When our students were rehearsing, they reflected not only on their musical parts, but on the meaning of these words. Intuitively, the children’s dreams for our world centered on HOPE, possibility, clean air, and care and belonging for all.

Profound JOY happens when people of all ages and walks of life align and connect through music and community. The evening brought students together from under-resourced ETM-LA partner schools to play under and with the stars. We are so grateful to our incredible teaching faculty, students, and champions for helping make this milestone possible. THANK YOU to all who cheered on our Orff students as they took the big stage! We couldn’t be prouder 🎶⭐️

This support allows us to continue bringing quality music education into classrooms across LA County. Thank you, LACDAC, for championing the power of the arts and helping us make a lasting impact!

Rogelio shares how ETM-LA helped bring his previous experience as an educator into the realm of K-5. “When I came to ETM-LA, my only experience was middle school and high school, and my biggest fear was not being able to connect with those younger grades... ETM-LA allowed me to understand and learn how to take those topics [I knew] and fit it through the elementary scope.”

Rogelio discusses the importance of advocacy & authenticity in the classroom, and how he uses his own self-expression to help students be comfortable and feel seen.
