Finding Your True Measure Far From Home: ADAM WILLIS
中華武術漂洋過海，往往離了故土，反見真章。就如詠春拳，到了美國這等民間槍械遍地、電視日日上演鐵籠搏殺之地，照理一言不合，大可拔槍；真要拳腳相見，亦有MMA。偏偏民間仍有人肯學、肯練、肯傳古典梁相詠春，所貪的並非花巧招式，而是四個字：「大道至簡」。街坊口角，能三兩手化開，不必拔槍，不見血光，不把小事打成大案，才叫本事。武之一字，本從「止戈」而來；打得贏，只算有拳，收得住，才算有武。《佛羅里達州梁相堂》開館近五十載，上承葉問、梁相、鍾萬年、謝永恩一脈，由KarlGodwin、BillGraves主理，AdamWillis營運，拳理口傳心授，薪火已歷七代有餘。人會老，拳會舊，道理卻不會老。一套拳漂過半個地球，非但沒有沖淡，反而在異鄉拳來腳往之間，愈磨愈亮，真金不怕紅爐火，好拳不怕過重洋。

Chinese martial arts often reveal their true worth after crossing oceans. Wing Chun is a perfect example. In America, where fi****ms are common and cage fighting is on television every night, raw combat is hardly scarce. If fists are the answer, there is MMA; if things go badly enough, there is always a gun. Yet people still study and preserve classical Leung Sheung Wing Chun. Why? Not for flashy techniques, but for a timeless principle: Simplicity Is the Highest Form of Sophistication. If a neighborhood confrontation can be controlled with a few calm movements—without drawing a weapon, spilling blood, or turning a small problem into a life-changing disaster—that is real skill. The Chinese character 武 “martial” carries the ancient idea of “Stopping the Spear.” Winning proves you can fight. Knowing how to control a fight, and when to stop, is martial art. For nearly 50 years, Leung Sheung Tong of Florida has carried the lineage Yip Man → Leung Sheung → Ken Chung → Ben Der, with Karl Godwin and Bill Graves as gatekeepers and Adam Willis, who recently returned to Florida to re-establish himself after teaching out of state, helping carry the torch forward. The flame has now passed through more than seven generations. People grow old. Fighting methods change. Good principles do not. Wing Chun crossed half the world without being diluted; tested in another culture, it was polished brighter. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. Good steel is tempered in fire—and good Kung Fu travels well.
