Hi Everyone!
First let me introduce myself, my name is Dr. Brandon Loos and I am thrilled to be working with FYO this year! Thank you for your patience as we have worked through the transition and getting ready to welcome your students back!
Below you will find all the information you need for the Open House, auditions, beginning students, calendar, Quartet, volunteers, and the start to our season! If you have any questions after reading the information below don’t hesitate to reach out!

Open House: This is for ALL FYO students and parents :)
When September 13th 6:00-7:30pm
Where: Flagler Auditorium 5500 State Rte 100, Palm Coast, FL 32164

Group D “Harmony” will be rehearsing on Monday, Sept 11th from 3:30-5:00pm in preparation for the Open House
Auditions: If you are a returning student or new student planning to audition for a higher ensemble, your audition dates and materials including expected excerpts can be found here:

Beginning students who have not played an instrument before are not required to audition.
Auditions will be held on 3 different days, one for each ensemble.

Indian Trails Middle School

Group D “Harmony” August 28th 3:30-6:30pm
Group C “Con Brio” August 30th 3:30-6:30pm
Group B “Overture” September 6th 3:30-6:30pm
There are no individually assigned time slots so there may be some waiting. Please be patient. There will be a warmup space available.
If you are unsure which group to audition for, please read the descriptions below.
Group D “Harmony”
Ability to read and play music in all keys using all rhythm patterns and note values. Excellent bow hold, bow use, left hand/arm position and fi*****ng. Ability to make a clear, sonorous, and musical sound using advanced combinations of detache, staccato, legato, pizzicato, accents, marcato, tremolo, tenuto, portato, and others as necessary.
Group C “Con Brio”
Ability to read and play in D, G, C and F Major and related minor keys on all strings using quarter, half, whole, dotted half, eighth and sixteenth notes and rests. Correct bow hold, bow use, left hand/arm position and fi*****ng. Ability to make a clear, sonorous and musical sound using combinations of detache, staccato, legato, pizzicato, accents, marcato, and tremolo.
Group B “Overture”
This is the orchestra level that all students finishing their first year should audition for. Ability to read and play music in D and G Major using quarter, half, whole and eighth notes and rests. Correct bow hold, bow use, left hand/arm position and fi*****ng. Ability to make a clear, sonorous sound using detache, staccato, legato, and pizzicato articulations.
Audition results will be emailed after the final day of Auditions.
