Mr. Barnett’s 8th Grade U.S. History classes held their annual Miami Indian Days this past week! Students spent time researching Miami Indian history and culture and then put their learning into action through a variety of hands-on activities.
Students built a wigwam, played lacrosse, enjoyed succotash cooked over a fire, created cattail art, ground corn and played Native American games.

It was a fun week of hands-on learning, teamwork, and bringing history to life!

We are thrilled to announce that Maconaquah High School has been selected as a Pathways to Careers and Postsecondary (P-CAP) partner school by the Center of Excellence in Leadership of Learning (CELL) at the University of Indianapolis as part of a federal grant.

CELL will help our school implement a P-CAP program to transform the pathways of high-potential students who are disengaged from school. P-CAP provides a different educational experience through hands-on curriculum with project-based learning and connections to industry partners—all tied to credentials of value and CTE pathways that lead to in-demand careers.

Please welcome Mrs. Karen Baker, the new MMS 7th grade Science Teacher!
Hello! I'm Karen Baker, and I'm excited to join the Maconaquah Middle School family. I bring more than 18 years of teaching experience in Science, Language Arts, and Psychology. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education from Indiana University Kokomo and my Master of Education from Northern Arizona University.
I love creating engaging learning experiences and helping students grow both academically and personally. Over the years, I've also enjoyed coaching Track, Academic Super Bowl, Science Olympiad, Student Council, and Spell Bowl.
When I'm not at school, I enjoy giving back to my community by volunteering with Helping Hands Food Pantry and the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store. My husband and I live in Peru with our three wonderful children, who keep life busy, fun, and full of adventure.
