Meet Karen True, our Academic Dean! 🦁

Mrs. True joined GDA in 2014, back when the school was just beginning to put down roots — starting in the classroom before stepping into her role as Academic Dean today.

She earned a B.S. in Business Administration and Education from Missouri State University, with experience teaching in both homeschool and school communities, plus time serving on a church ministry team before joining GDA.

Her husband, Gerry, serves on the lead ministry team at Oak Hills Church, and together they have two young adult children — one a 2018 GDA graduate, the other a former GDA Latin teacher!

Outside of work, Karen loves creating, cooking, reading, and hiking with her family.

On the first morning of school, our seniors welcomed our newest Lions into the GDA family, presenting each Kindergarten student with a laurel wreath, a tradition as old as the ceremony's meaning itself.

Meet Joe Fesler, our Head of School! 🦁

At GDA, Joe is responsible for the school as a whole, steering vision, culture, and everything in between. He holds a BS from Liberty University and a Master's from Baylor, and calls Missouri home.

Joe has been part of GDA for 8 years, and when asked why he's here, his answer is simple:

"making sure students are exposed to the gospel and helped along a better path for life."

A place where education and formation are woven together? Where teachers disciple as much as they instruct? Where your child discovers who God made them to be and is equipped to live it out?

We cannot wait to see what He does at the 2500 Bulverde Road campus.

Many formative moments happen in the second half of a hard game when a coach pulls a player aside and speaks truth into them. They happen in a gym full of people cheering for something bigger than a scoreboard. They happen when a team loses — and chooses grace anyway.

Formation happens when a whole school gathers to worship, to celebrate, to mark the moments that matter, like a Spring Concert, banquet, or a night when the community fills a room and remembers why they chose this together.

GDA has closed on 2500 Bulverde Road, which gives us a space to gather, compete, practice, worship, and celebrate Jesus together as a school family.

This is about what God does in the context of athletics and special events.

We are grateful. We are humbled. And we are ready.

Summer looks different when your student is in Logic or Rhetoric, and it should.

These are the years when personal interest starts to matter as much as assigned curriculum, when a student who pursues something they actually care about learns more than any textbook could teach them.

For Logic and Rhetoric families, here are a few ideas worth exploring this summer:

Literature Morning Times for the student who loves to read deeply, Nature Journaling for the one who needs to slow down and observe, take an Apologetics Course for the student asking hard questions about faith, and pursue personal growth Interests as a reminder that becoming a person is part of the education too.
