#5 Bullard: From Contender to Champion
After years of knocking on the door, Bullard finally broke through, capturing the first softball state championship in school history and rewarding a program built on patience, consistency and belief.
Bullard entered the postseason after claiming its seventh consecutive undefeated district championship, a remarkable display of consistency that spoke to the strength of the program rather than a single talented team. The Lady Panthers then put together one of the most impressive playoff runs of the season, sweeping every opponent they faced on their way to Austin.
The defining moment came in the state semifinals.
Standing in Bullard's path was three-time defending state champion Calallen, one of the premier dynasties in Texas high school softball. The Lady Panthers rallied from an early deficit to defeat the Wildcats 5-4, ending Calallen's pursuit of a fourth consecutive state championship and advancing to the first state championship game in school history.
Bullard wasn't finished.
Behind a dominant performance from senior pitcher Brooklyn Brannen, the Lady Panthers defeated Prosper Richland 3-0 to capture the first softball state championship in program history. Brannen earned State Championship Game MVP honors, while five Bullard players were selected to the UIL All-Tournament Team.
