Student Shout Out - David Lomashvili, piano

David recently entered as a participant in the West Gwinnett Federated Festival. David placed 1st in the competition and received a scholarship provided by the National Federation of Music Clubs and the Gwinnett County Music Teachers Association.

Please join us in congratulating both David and his piano teacher, Mrs. Susan Andrews for this great accomplishment!

Student Shout Out: Olivia Kim, Flute

Olivia was recently auditioned and was accepted into the Gwinnett Symphony Youth Orchestra! She will be joining many of her equally musically gifted peers from across Gwinnett and beyond to present a concert on April 27th.

Olivia has been taking private flute lessons with Mrs. Lisa Youngquist for 5 and a half years! Please join us in congratulating Olivia for this great accomplishment, as well as for her bright and musical future she has ahead of her. Way to go, Olivia! 👏📣🎼

Did You Know? Non-Musicians Rarely Hear Music in Their Dreams! 🎶🛌

Ever had a dream where you were surrounded by music, but couldn’t quite place the tune? Or maybe you've never experienced music in your dreams at all? It turns out that our ability to hear and interact with music in our dreams might be linked to whether we’re musicians or not!

🧠 Why Does This Happen?
Research shows that non-musicians often don’t hear music in their dreams because their brains aren’t as “tuned in” to musical processing as those who actively engage with music. People who play an instrument, sing, or listen to music regularly have a more developed neural network for processing sound, making musical experiences more common in their dreams.

🎸 Musicians & Music in Dreams
For musicians, music in dreams can be a regular occurrence—whether it's performing, composing, or simply enjoying a melody. The brain of a musician is wired differently, so they’re more likely to incorporate music into their subconscious experiences.
