All public safety personnel are invited to attend "𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝗻: 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀," a symposium scheduled for January at the 𝗚𝗣𝗦𝗧𝗖-𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘀𝘆𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀. Sadly, because of the stressful work public safety empoyees perform, mental health issues are not uncommon. This 16-hour course is designed to equip public safety employees to care for themselves and their colleagues.

Today is the 24th anniversary of the worst attack on US soil. Multiple thousands of people lost their lives that day. More (mostly First Responders) die daily as a result of injuries sustained in the aftermath of that attack. Many more thousands had their lives altered directly from the deaths of their loved ones. And millions of us were affected emotionally & still carry that with us today.

Yesterday a great patriot, Charlie Kirk, was senselessly murdered for speaking out on the traditional values held by so many of us. If you really listened to him, his message was reconciliation, not division, as has been put out by some. Our thoughts & prayers are with his family & loved ones.

Mike & Marie wish to assure our students & clients that the mission of Defensive Specialties, LLC has not changed:

 To provide law-abiding US citizens & legal permanent resident aliens in the United States under the I-551 Green Card program the basic knowledge, skill & attitude necessary to own & use a firearm safely & responsibly.

 To provide safe, competent, experienced shooters that same knowledge, skill & attitude necessary to teach law-abiding beginning shooters the knowledge, skill & attitude to own & use a firearm safely & responsibly.

 To provide Security personnel with the knowledge, skill & attitude necessary to protect their client’s property (& defend them, their families &/or other personnel as assigned in their position).

We know there is a lot of fear today. We have reached a tipping point in our political system. We’ve reached a tipping point in our personal lives.

If you know us, you know we believe in being prepared. We’ve trained physically, mentally & emotionally to protect our loved ones & other people around us. And we hope we never have to use the training we have.

We urge calmness. Take a breath today. And never forget…

September 30… Hard to believe… And the last 3 months have been an absolute whirlwind.

For those who aren’t aware, I went to mom’s on July 4 to spend the night & see how she’s doing. The next morning, she confessed that as much as she loves her house, she simply can’t take care of it. She wanted to sell. Quite honestly, I was shocked. I thought I still had at least a year before she would make that decision.

By July 27, we had narrowed down 22 independent/assisted living facilities down to 1, had all the major systems in the house checked out, gave away a LOT of belongs & had her moved. We could not have done that with help & advice from a lot of folks. It truly takes a village… Jerry Shingleton & his lovely wife Rita are an ongoing source of advice & suggestions. Karen Bischoff, Lauren Anne & Theresa Rodgers are also ongoing sources of encouragement & advice. There are many others who have sent good vibes, prayers & offers of help our way. Thank you!

I especially want to give a huge shout-out to Robert Mason. We probably know 40 realtors in the Atlanta area. But we chose Robert because we see how much of a go-getter he is in both his personal & professional life. If you look at his fb page, you’ll find yourself exhausted just reading all that he does, lol. He’s definitely one who believes in living life to its fullest. On a professional level, I see his habits & how eager he is to help folks sell & buy & improve their lives. I see his world-wide contacts. I see how “hungry” he is. And it certainly paid off with us. We hadn’t even gotten the house cleaned out yet when we received a signed contract on it. Never even made it to market…. And this is due to the hard work of Robert & his team. If you need a realtor in the Atlanta area, I'd certainly recommend him, hands-down. Thank you!

As we get ready to start the last quarter of 2024, my mom is now 2 miles from us instead of 2 hours through the mountains. While there’s still a lot of on-going stress in getting her settled, I’m happy & relieved that I get to spend more time with her & know she’s in a safe location.
