Folks,
It is with sadness and a broken heart that I share with you that Sister Virginia Young passed away last night.
Sister Virginia started her career in Deaf Education in 1950 at SMSD. Sister was great, sweet, caring and Child First share a few things about her. Sister Virginia was a fierce advocate for SMSD
For those of you, who may not have known her, the YAH is named after her and her sister. I have no doubt that Virginia and Loretta are together right now in a very good place.
I do not have information on services or arrangements. When I am informed the arrangements, I will let you know.
With extreme sadness,
Tim PS. Please do forward as appropriate.
Timothy M. Kelly
Superintendent

SCHMIT - Teresa Colleen
Of Buffalo; passed away on June 19, 2023. Beloved daughter of the late Francis J. Schmit and Joan L. Schmit. She is survived by her loving brothers Thomas (Eva), Peter (Diana), and Mike. She was the beloved cat mother of Bella. Teresa loved her nieces and nephews Sara (Kevin), Erik (Brooke), Claire, Marshall, and Eduards) with all her heart and they will miss her. Also, will be remembered by extended family and many friends. She lived as a strong-willed woman, and always said, "My life has been tough, but that's okay. I had a good life." If desired, donations may be made in her name to St. Mary's School for the Deaf (her alma mater) or the Lupus Alliance of Upstate New York. No prior visitation. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by Lombardo Funeral Home.
