Our annual Arbor Day Tree-Planting Ceremony is on Arbor Day, Friday, April 24, at 11:00 am on the east side of Cassety Hall near Cleveland Circle. An American Sweet Gum (Liquidambar styriciflua, pictured) will be planted. The sweetgum is native to New York State (although much more common in the southeastern U.S); it is used for lumber, resins, and turpentine. Native Americans would use its sap to make chewing gum. Please contact campus arborist Steven Sypniewski ([email protected]) for more information.
